BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Recent IU volleyball graduate Jazzmine McDonald has been selected to represent the USA Team in the upcoming World University Games, August 19-30 in Taipei City, Taiwan.
The 29th Summer World University Games will include a special opening ceremony and the delegations with stay in an athlete village in the host city.
"I'm very excited to meet the girls and coaches and start practice and competing with them," McDonald said. "This is an amazing opportunity and I'm so blessed to be given this opportunity to represent my country, university and family in the World Games."
McDonald, who earned All-Big Ten Honorable Mention honors for the 2016 season, finished her collegiate career with the second highest hitting percentage in school history. Her .364 hitting efficiency during the 2016 season ranked as the second-best mark for a single season in school history.
Playing overseas is not new to McDonald. Last summer she represented USA Volleyball on the Collegiate National Team. The team captured the Gold Medal at the Global Challenge in Pula, Croatia and also spent time in Milan and Venice.

McDonald's head coach for the World Games, Joe Trinsey, was the U.S. National Team Assistant under Karch Kiraly the last four years and at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
"This is just another unbelievable opportunity for Jazzmine to continue to represent Indiana and the USA in the Summer World University Games in Taipei," IU head coach Sherry Dunbar-Kruzan said. "These games are just a step shy of the Olympics with all the fanfare including opening ceremonies, athlete village, and competition atmosphere."
"Jazzy has continued to show an interest in competing after college and this tournament will give her the exposure needed to play at the highest level," Dunbar-Kruzan added. "I look forward to following along with Hoosier Nation as Jazzy competes in this great event in August."
McDonald graduated from Indiana in the spring of 2017 with a degree in Exercise Science.
