BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – With 12 Hoosiers part of National Football League organizations, Indiana is well represented in the professional ranks. Each week throughout the year, IUHoosiers.com will provide updates on these former IU standouts.
Shane Wynn hauled in a four-yard touchdown reception on a third-and-goal play at the beginning of the fourth quarter. The score propelled the Jacksonville Jaguars into the lead over the Carolina Panthers, 17-16. Wynn concluded the evening with three catches, tying a team-high, for 32 yards, second on the team, and the team's lone receiving touchdown. He was also active on special teams, returning a kickoff for 48 yards, setting up the team's final score of the evening. Wynn also returned three punts in the game.
Jordan Howard saw his first extended action of the preseason, carrying the ball 12 times for 45 yards. Howard looks to build off of an impressive rookie campaign in which he earned Pro Bowl honors and was second in the league in rushing yardage.
Tevin Coleman made the most of his limited action for the Atlanta Falcons, notching 19 yards rushing on just three carries. His average rush of 6.3 yards was a game-high. The former All-American also hauled in his only target for 14 yards.
In a showdown of Los Angeles' two newest professional franchises, the Chargers beat the Rams, 21-19. Rodger Saffold, the starting right tackle for the Rams, played effectively in the brief time he was on the field. All-American Dan Feeney made it three games in a row in which he has played three positions across the offensive line for the Chargers. He saw reps at both guard spots and at center. Mitchell Paige grabbed one of his two targets for 10 yards. He also returned one punt in the victory.
Darius Latham turned in another productive performance from the defensive tackle position for the Raiders on Saturday night against Dallas. Latham notched three tackles, which included two solo stops.
Jason Spriggs played a bulk of the meaningful snaps across the offensive line for the Green Bay Packers in their contest with Denver. With an injury to the starting right tackle, Spriggs will be in contention for a starting spot for the Packers' season-opening game against the Seattle Seahawks.
