BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – With 12 Hoosiers part of National Football League organizations, Indiana is well represented in the professional ranks. Each week throughout the year, IUHoosiers.com will provide updates on these former IU standouts.
The Jacksonville Jaguars closed out the preseason with a victory over the Atlanta Falcons by score of 13-7. Former wide receiver Shane Wynn nabbed four receptions for 50 yards, both ranked second on the Jaguar offense on the evening. Wynn was also effective in the return game, taking four kicks back for 40 yards.
The Washington Redskins edged out the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a winning score of 13-10. Nate Sudfeld, IU's all-time leading passer, saw every snap at quarterback for the Redskins. Sudfeld was solid, completing 22-of-33 passes for a game-high 228 yards. He finished the contest with a QB Rating of 86.4.
Darius Latham had a highly productive night in Oakland's contest against Seattle. Latham netted two tackles, including one behind the line of scrimmage. The defensive lineman also registered a hit on the quarterback.
Mitchell Paige snagged his lone target for a 16-yard gain in Los Angeles' matchup with San Francisco. All-American Dan Feeney played along the offensive line for the Chargers. Feeney has impressed early in camp and looks to crack the starting lineup in week one.
Defensive lineman Bobby Richardson made his 2017 debut, recording four assisted tackles for the New York Giants. His four stops were tied for third on the team. The Giants defeated the Patriots in a shootout, 40-38.
Offensive lineman Jason Spriggs played in 78 percent (53-of-68 plays) of the offensive snaps for the victorious Packers against Rodger Saffold and the Los Angeles Rams. Spriggs lined up primarily at the tackle spot, although his long-term position for Green Bay might be at guard.
With a score of 30-6, the Kansas City Chiefs rolled the Tennessee Titans on Thursday night. Running back Devine Redding registered his first significant playing time of the 2017 campaign. He carried the ball a game-high 21 times for 59 yards, including the longest run of the evening, a 20-yard scamper. Redding also hauled in both of his targets for 10 yards.
