IUVB Set to Host Hoosier Classic

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The 9-0 Hoosiers are back at home this weekend to host the Hoosier Classic, Sept. 15-16 at University Gym.
University Gym is located at 2721 E 10th Street. It is near the intersection of 10th street and the 45/46 bypass.
The Hoosiers have won the Indiana Invitational, George Washington Invitational and Dunn Hospitality Tournament so far, this season. This weekend Indiana will match up against UNLV, Samford and Florida Gulf Coast.

9-0 Start
The Hoosiers have started 9-0 for the second straight season. It is the sixth time in program history Indiana has started 9-0 and the first time in school history they have done it in back-to-back seasons. The 9-0 start is tied for the third best start in program history.
2016 in Review
The Hoosiers are coming off their best season since 2010 as they finished 17-16 overall in the 2016 season. The team started 9-0 for the fourth time in school history and went 11-2 in non-conference play. The Big Ten slate was highlighted by wins over No. 13 Michigan and No. 22 Ohio State. In all, the Hoosiers beat four teams that made the NCAA Tournament.
The 2017 Roster
With the graduation of five seniors there will be many new faces on the 2017 roster. The team includes 11 freshmen and sophomores and six newcomers. In addition to the five freshmen, the Hoosiers have also added graduate student Kristen Ostach. Ostach completed her undergraduate education at Fordham and was the team captain in her senior year.
The Youth Movement
With 11 freshmen and sophomores the Hoosiers have gotten significant contributions from their younger players. At the George Washington Invitational, sophomore libero Meaghan Koors was named the MVP. Koors tied a program record for digs in a three-set match with 25 in the win over George Washington. Sophomore setter Victoria Brisack currently ranks third in the NCAA in assists per set with 12.58 per set. Sophomore middle blocker Hayden Huybers ranks 31st in the NCAA in hitting percentage at .415 and the Hoosiers as a team rank 23rd in the NCAA in hitting percentage at .281.
Showing Support for Florida Gulf Coast
Hurricane Irma has had a devastating impact on much of Florida in the recent days. The Florida Gulf Coast team has not been home in two weeks. They traveled from North Carolina to Bloomington after their tournament last week. Show your support for them and the situation in Florida by coming out to the Indiana vs. Florida Gulf Coast match on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
Broadcasting of the Tournament
The Hoosiers three matches will be video streamed on BTN Plus and there will also be a radio broadcast available on IUHoosiers.Com.
