No. 1 Hoosiers Face Northwestern on Sunday

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The No. 1-ranked Indiana University men's soccer team will head to Evanston, Ill. to face the Northwestern Wildcats on Sunday afternoon in a Big Ten conference match.

Kickoff at Martin Stadium is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. ET, with live stats available at IUHoosiers.com. The match will be streamed live via BTN Plus on BTN2Go.com.

SETTING THE SCENE
• The No. 1-ranked Indiana University men's soccer team will hit the road to face the Northwestern Wildcats on Sunday afternoon in Evanston, Ill.
• The Hoosiers enter Friday's contest with a 4-0-2 record on the season overall and a 0-0-2 mark in Big Ten play after playing No. 18-ranked Michigan to a 1-1 draw last Wednesday.
• For the match, IU out-shot the Wolverines, 17-13, getting seven shots on goal to six for UM.
• Freshman goalkeeper Trey Muse has played well this season, posting four shutouts while allowing just two goals with 15 saves.
• Junior Andrew Gutman leads the Hoosiers with three goals scored on the season, while freshman Mason Toye, junior Trevor Swartz and senior Rashad Hyacenth have all netted two on the year.
• A pair of freshmen - Griffin Dorsey and Thomas Warr - lead IU with two assists each.

SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
• The Northwestern Wildcats enters Sunday's match with the Hoosiers with an overall record of 1-5 on the season and a 0-2 mark in Big Ten conference play.
• The Wildcats lone win so far came in the season opener at home in overtime to Valparaiso, 2-1.
• In Big Ten action, Northwestern lost 1-0 at home to Ohio State and fell 3-1 at Wisconsin on Wednesday.
• In a preseason poll conducted of the league's coaches, the Wildcats were picked to finish eighth in the league. Elo Ozumba, Mattias Tomasino and Rouven Wahlfeldt were all named to the Big Ten Preseason Honors List.
• In 2016, Northwestern finished with an overall record of 6-11-1 overall and a 3-4-1 mark in Big Ten play. The one draw on the year came in Bloomington against IU, 0-0, when the Hoosiers out-shot NU, 28-3, in the match.

SERIES HISTORY
• Indiana leads the overall series over Northwestern, 27-2-7, including a 12-1-3 mark in Evanston.
• The Hoosiers haven't lost to the Wildcats in the last 10 meetings, posting a 4-0-6 mark.
• Indiana is 2-0-1 in the last three matches in Evanston, with IU's last loss on the road in the series coming on Oct. 25, 2009.
• In the 36 meetings, IU has out-scored Northwestern, 113-18, and is averaging 3.1 goals a match.

HOOSIERS IN THE NATIONAL POLLS
• After three weeks of the season, IU has moved to the top of both the United Soccer Coaches poll and the Top Drawer Soccer rankings. IU is also ranked No. 2 by Soccer America and No. 3 by College Soccer News.
• In the final United Soccer Coaches poll of 2016, the Hoosiers were ranked No. 9 in the country.

INDIANA IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS
• Entering the weekend, IU is ranked in the top-20 in six categories in the NCAA statistical rankings.
• Indiana is ranked fifth in team goals against average (0.31), ninth in shutout percentage (0.67), 11th in save percentage (0.889), 16th in corner kicks per game (7.17), 15th in total goals (12) and 16th in win-loss-tied percentage (.833).

HOOSIERS START THE SEASON 4-0-2
• Indiana has started the season undefeated through six matches for the second-straight year and for the 12th time in program history.
• The Hoosiers are looking to remain undefeated through the team's first seven matches for the 12th time in school history.
• IU's 4-0 start was the first for the team since 2004 and marked the seventh time in program history IU accomplished the feat.

LILLARD NAMED NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
• Grant Lillard was named National Player of the Week by Top Drawer Soccer on Sept. 12.
• The senior center back helped IU tie No. 2 Maryland in College Park on Sept. 8, not allowing the Terps a single shot on goal.

UP NEXT
• The Hoosiers will return to Bloomington to host Rutgers on Friday, Sept. 22 at Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium.
