Trio of Final Round 73’s Gives IU 14th Place Finish at Olympia Fields

CHICAGO – On the final day of the of th Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational, the Indiana men's golf team got rounds of 3-over par from Jake Brown, Brendon Doyle and Evan Gaesser en route to a team score of 293. That put the Hoosiers' team score for the tournament at 889 and in 14th place.

The final round score of 293 was better than Southern California and Northwestern.

The top individual performer for the Hoosiers over the three rounds was sophomore Brock Ochsenreiter, who used a final round 74 to finish tied for 30th with a total score of 218. It marks the fifth career Top 30 finish for the Nashville, Tennessee native.

Jake Brown finished the tournament tied for 48th with an overall score of 221 following his final round 73, which featured three birdies and six bogeys.

Brendon Doyle carded his best 18-hole score of the season on Sunday, closing with back-to-back birdies to post 73. His overall tournament score of 224 gave him a share of 56th place.

Following a tough stretch of holes on Saturday in round two, sophomore Evan Gaesser played his first 11 holes in 1-under par before running into four bogeys down the stretch to finish with a 73 on Sunday. He took home a tie for 71st with an overall score of 231 for the tournament.

Freshman Ethan Shepherd registered his second straight round of 75 on Sunday to put him at 19-over par for the tournament and a tie for 67th.

Next on the schedule for Indiana will be the Windon Memorial, which runs from Oct. 8-9 at the Evanston Golf Club in Evanston, Illinois.
