Harper, Fisher Tied For Second; Hoosiers In Second After Day One Of Ptarmigan Ram Classic

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Indiana Women's Golf kicked off its season on a high note with a pair of 69's by junior Erin Harper and sophomore Emma Fisher to sit in second place overall at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic on Sunday.
Both Harper and Fisher secured five birdies each while making just two bogeys each in the first 18 holes of the tournament at the Ptarmigan Country Club, which runs through Tuesday. Harper started off and completed her day with birdies on holes 10 and nine. . Fisher, who set a new career low with the 3-under round, fired off three in the back nine on holes four, five and seven.
IU turned in a team score of 287 to sit second in the 15-team field, just two strokes behind leader UC Irvine (285). They are two strokes ahead of San Francisco (289) and three in front of San Jose State (290) to round out the top four teams in the field.
Freshman Angela Aung debuted with a 74 (+4), collecting three birdies on the afternoon. Freshman Mary Parsons and sophomore Elisa Pierre each carded 75 (+3) to help round out the Hoosiers' scores for the day.
Day Two of the season opening tournament will get underway tomorrow morning with tee times starting at 10 a.m. ET.
