• True freshman running back Morgan Ellison rushed for 186 yards on 25 carries (7.4 average). He had the fourth-most rushing yards for an Indiana true freshman in a game and is the 11th true freshman in program history to reach the century mark.
• Ellison scored the game's opening touchdown, his first career score, from two yards out. The Pickerington, Ohio, native also added a 1-yard TD in the second.
• Fifth-year senior quarterback Richard Lagow connected with senior tight end Ian Thomas on a 71-yard touchdown, the longest IU reception since Lagow found Nick Westbrook for a 75-yard score against Wake Forest on Sept. 24, 2016. Lagow finished 8-of-13 for 130 yards and a TD.
• Thomas made the most of his two catches as he tallied 79 yards and the touchdown, his third of the season.
• Redshirt freshman quarterback Peyton Ramsey found redshirt sophomore running back Devonte Williams for a 42-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter. It was Williams' first career score, Ramsey's third TD pass and his career long throw.
• Redshirt freshman running back Cole Gest set his career-high for rushing yards with 45 yards and recorded a career-long rush (42).
• Redshirt junior wide receiver Simmie Cobbs Jr. scored a touchdown for the third straight game after he recovered a fumble in the end zone in the opening stanza.
• It was the Hoosiers first fumble recovery for a TD since Lawrence Barnett on Sept. 10, 2011.
• IU added its second fumble recovery for a TD in the fourth quarter when redshirt sophomore cornerback Andre Brown Jr. returned one 22 yards for the Hoosiers final score.
• It is believed to be the first time in program history the Hoosiers scored twice on fumble recoveries in a single game.
• Brown netted his first career fumble and second recovery to go along with five tackles, all solo.
• The Hoosiers offense finished the day with 21 points off of three takeaways.
• Indiana got its first takeaway of the season after junior cornerback Tyler Green forced his second career fumble and senior linebacker Chris Covington recovered his first career fumble.
• Fifth-year senior safety Chase Dutra forced his fourth career fumble and recovered it for his third career recovery.
• Senior linebacker Tegray Scales one TFL moved him into eighth on the all-time Hoosiers list with 34.5. He also had six tackles (4 solo).
• Sophomore safety Khalil Bryant and redshirt junior linebacker Dameon Willis Jr. surpassed their career-highs in tackles with five.
• Redshirt junior J-Shun Harris II took a punt return back for a touchdown (70 yards) for the second straight game, joining Rob Turner (1990) as the only players in program history to return a punt for a score in back-to-back games.
• Harris tied the Indiana record for most punt returns for a TD in a season with Mitchell Paige (2015), Larry Highbaugh (1969), and Turner.
• Fifth-year senior kicker Griffin Oakes seven extra points give him a total of 123 in his career, the second-most in program history.
• Oakes made a field goal (27 yards), extending his IU record for career field goals made to 56.
• Indiana's defense forced three-and-outs on the first four Georgia Southern drives. IU finished the game forcing the Eagles offense into nine three-and-outs.
• A 21-point first quarter was the most points in a quarter for IU since 22 fourth quarter points scored against FIU on Sep. 1, 2016.
• IU's 31 first half points were the most since a 30-point second half against Purdue on Nov. 24, 2015.
• On offense, redshirt freshman offensive lineman Mackenzie Nworah, redshirt freshman wide receiver Taysir Mack, and Ellison made their first career starts.
• On defense, sophomore defensive end Allen Stallings IV made his first career start.
• Junior offensive lineman Brandon Knight returned and started his first game of the season.
• Redshirt junior Wes Martin (3rd time this season), Scales (3rd), Lagow (third), and senior Greg Gooch (3rd) served as today's game captains.
• Head coach Tom Allen earned his first win at Memorial Stadium. He now owns a 2-2 record.
• This was the first time in program history IU played a school from the state of Georgia.
• The Hoosiers won the opening coin toss and deferred. They are 3-for-3 in coin tosses this season.
