5 Questions with Madison Appel

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Madison Appel will be a junior for the Hoosiers in the 2017-18 season and is majoring in Communications at Indiana.
Q: How did you get started playing tennis?
A: My parents always loved the sport, but they decided to put a racket in my older brother and I's hands when we were around 3 and 4. We started off then, and kept it up ever since.
Q: Why did you choose for come to Indiana University and what makes IU and the tennis program special?
A: I chose to come to IU because of the entire school atmosphere. Compared to all the other schools i looked at IU had the best coaching staff and support that I was looking for. I really liked how the entire school campus is based around the sports of the University as well.
Q: What is your favorite thing about Bloomington?
A: My favorite thing about Bloomington is all the different restaurants and food choices there are. You can eat basically whatever your craving. I also love the atmosphere of the sporting events and how the whole town comes together.
Q: What are you looking forward to about next year?
A: I'm looking forward to adding a few awesome players, and being able to work hard and be successful.
Q: What have been some of your favorite experiences at IU so far?
A: Some of my favorite experiences are with my team. We spend so much time together, especially on road trips and spring break that our most funny and memorable times are when we are together. We share the same journey and it's a really unique experience.
