Hoosiers Top Purple Aces, 3-0

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – In front of a capacity crowd of 1,164, the Indiana volleyball team turned back Evansville, 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-23) on Friday to open play in the Dunn Hospitality Invitational.
Sophomore setter Victoria Brisack posted her fifth double-double of the season with 44 assists and 10 digs and sophomore middle blocker Deyshia Lofton led the Hoosiers in kills with 11 and a .647 hitting percentage.
The Hoosiers (7-0) tallied 61 digs in the three-set match with four players that posted double-digit digs. Sophomore libero Meaghan Koors led the team with 15 digs and freshman Bayli Lebo recorded a season-high 12 digs.
Redshirt sophomore Kendall Beerman also posted a double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs.
The Hoosiers posted 19 kills in the first set with junior Elizabeth Asdell getting six of them. Indiana won the opening set, 25-20.
In set two the Hoosiers limited the Purple Aces to a -.067 hitting percentage and won the second set, 25-15.
Evansville battled back in the third set and took a 17-14 lead. The Hoosiers responded as they scored four of the next five points to tie it 18-18.
Sophomore Ally Badowski got the final kill for the Hoosiers on a set from Brisack to take the third set, 25-23 and win the match.
The Hoosiers continue play tomorrow with matches against UT-Martin and UAB.
