BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Women's Soccer collected its fifth Herbert Cup after posting the highest team GPA at Indiana during the Fall 2017 semester.
The Hoosiers registered above a 3.6 GPA, including 10 that posted a perfect 4.0 GPA.
It marks the fifth time in the last seven semesters that IU Women's Soccer brought home the accolade, as the program also won the trophy in Fall 2016, Spring 2016, Fall 2015 and Fall 2014.
"The commitment this team has shown to academics is amazing," said head coach Amy Berbary. "Under the leadership of our academic captain Caroline Dreher, every one of our players pushed themselves in the classroom and made it a priority. I could not be prouder of their success."
In the academic captain role, Dreher acted as a liaison between the team and academic advisor Dan Woodside, helped set team goals and promoted academic competition within the team.
In December, Indiana earned 16 Academic All-Big Ten nods, the most for the program since 2013. In addition, four – Caroline Dreher, Kayla Smith, Sydney Kilgore and Maya Piper - earned CoSIDA Academic All-District accolades, the most in IU history.
