Hoosiers Conclude IU Winter Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana women's tennis team wrapped up its first competition of the spring semester by winning seven of eight doubles matches on the final day of the IU Winter Invitational.
Overall the Hoosiers compiled a record of 28-9 in singles and doubles combined for the tournament.
Madison Appel and Jelly Bozovic got Indiana going with a 6-3 win and Natalie Whalen and Michelle McKamey kept it going with a 6-3 victory.
Two more pairs won in round four with Caitlin Bernard and Xiwei Cai (7-6) and Paulin Jahren and Emma Love (6-3).
The Hoosiers added three more doubles victories in the fifth and final doubles round of the tournament.
The Hoosiers had strong performances up and down the lineup all weekend and IU head coach Ramiro Azcui said he is excited about the team he has after the opening weekend.
"I'm thrilled and excited to get the season started with this group," he said. "We showed excellent depth with great individual performances from a variety of people this weekend. I think this group will continue to improve and grow as the season goes on."
