
IU Track and Field Men Ranked No. 9, Women Ranked No. 23

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – In week one of the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) poll, the men's and women's track and field teams both were ranked in the top-25 teams.
The men's team moved up five spots to No. 9 from the preseason rankings that were released on January 10. The Hoosiers had a strong performance at the Gladstein Invitational that earned them this ranking. Three athletes and one relay team landed on USTFCCCA's top-10 marks of the week list.
Senior Daniel Kuhn ran the sixth fastest time in the 600m (1:17.90), which is currently the third best time in the Big Ten behind Isaiah Harris of Penn State (No. 1) and Carter Lilly of Iowa (No. 2).
Redshirt freshman Ben Veatch ran the second fastest time in the 3000m (7:58.83), which earned him the No. 1 spot in the Big Ten and No. 3 spot in the NCAA. Sophomore Kyle Mau ran the third fastest time, finishing behind Veatch with the time of 8:03.10. Mau's time is the second best time in the Big Ten and the fourth best time in the NCAA.
The men's 4x800m relay team consisting of Bryce Millar, Teddy Browning, Marcus Ellington and Joe Murphy had the best performance of the week finishing with the time of 7:42.78.
The women's team jumped ten spots to No. 23 from the preseason rankings. The Hoosiers had three athletes and one relay team land on the top-10 marks of the week list.
Senior Kendell Wiles had the fourth fastest time in the 600m (1:30.38), which is the second best time in the Big Ten coming in behind Titania Markland of Minnesota.
Redshirt junior Katherine Receveur had the sixth fastest time in the 3000m run with the time of 9:18.47. Receveur's time is the second fastest time in the Big Ten and the 12th fastest time in the NCAA. Junior Maggie Allen ran the eighth fastest time (9:22.56), which puts her at No. 3 in the Big Ten and No. 15 in the NCAA.
The women's 4x800m relay team had the second fastest time this week. The team consisted of Anevay Hiehle, Joely Pinkston, Mallory Mulzer and Kelsey Harris.
The Hoosiers will be back in action this weekend when they opened Harry Gladstein Fieldhouse to host the Indiana University Relays on Friday, January 26 and Saturday, January 27.
