Jaelynn Penn Named Big Ten Freshman Of The Week

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Freshman guard Jaelynn Penn has been named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week, announced by the conference office on Monday.
Penn earns the honors after averaging 15.5 points and shot 45.8 percent from the floor last week against No. 14 Maryland and Michigan State. The Louisville, Ky. native went 72.7 percent from the 3-point line, knocking down eight triples in two games while also grabbing 2.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.
She tied a team-high 18 points where she went 5-for-8 from 3-point range at No. 14 Maryland and added three assists and a steal. In the Hoosiers' win at Michigan State, Penn went a perfect 3-for-3 from 3-point range and shot 41.7 percent from the floor as she added 13 points and four rebounds.
In her freshman season, Penn is averaging 10.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and is shooting 38.6 percent from the floor as she has started in all 21 games while averaging 32.0 minutes per game.
