OPENING TIP
• The 118th season of Indiana basketball continues on Wednesday when the Hoosiers visit Illinois. IU is coming off a 71-68 win over Maryland on Monday. IU is playing the 3rd game of a 7-game, 17-day stretch which will see IU play four ranked opponents. Illinois is coming off an 84-77 loss at home to Michigan State.

• Sophomore center De'Ron Davis, who started the first 15 games this season, underwent surgery on Jan. 10 to repair a torn Achilles tendon in his right leg and will miss the remainder of the season. The Colorado native is fourth in the Big Ten in field goal percentage (61.5%). He is averaging 9.6 points and 4.3 rebounds.

THE COACHES
• Archie Miller is the 29th head coach in Indiana men's basketball history. He won his 150th career game with the triumph over Northwestern on Jan. 14. The 39-year old native of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, comes to IU after serving the previous six seasons as head coach at the University of Dayton, where he won Atlantic 10 Conference regular season championships in 2016 and 2017. He was Atlantic-10 Coach of the Year in 2017. He guided the Flyers to a 139-63 record (69.8) and a 68-34 mark (66.7) in the Atlantic 10. He took Dayton to the NCAA Tournament each of the last four years, with the Flyers advancing to the Elite Eight in the 2014 Tournament. UD was nationally ranked in 3 of Miller's 6 seasons (2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16).

• Brad Underwood is in his first year of leading the Illini program after one year at Oklahoma State and three years at Stephen F. Austin.

• Senior Robert Johnson currently has the hot hand for the Hoosiers. In the last 5 games, he is averaging 17.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and shooting 40.5% from three-point range (15-of-37). He had a team-high 21 points against Michigan State and added 7 rebounds. He had a career-high 28 points at Minnesota. He is now in 31st place on the IU all-time scoring list with 1,256 points and fourth on the school's all-time list with 211 treys.

• Since replacing Davis in the starting lineup, freshman Justin Smith has averaged 10.2 points per game and shot a team-high 60.0% from the field in that time. He scored 20 points and hit the go-ahead shot in the final minutes at Minnesota. He had 9 points and 4 rebounds at Michigan State. He had 12 points against Maryland.

• Junior walk-on Zach McRoberts entered the starting lineup six games ago and is third in Big Ten games only with 1.8 steals per game. He had 7 points, 3 assists and 3 steals against Maryland.

QUICK HITS
• During the Hoosiers recent 3-game winning streak, they allowed opponents 62.3 points on 39.5% shooting from the field and 35.5% shooting from long range. They had entered the Minnesota game allowing 72.4 points per game on 43.9% shooting and 38.4% from 3FG range.

• Graduate forward Collin Hartman is back for a fifth year after sitting out last year with knee surgery. Hartman started 24 games for the eventual Big Ten champions in 2016, averaging 5.0 points and 3.1 rebounds per game. He had a career-high 18 points at Wisconsin and added 10 points and 5 boards against Penn State. He had 11 points in 16 minutes against Duke and had a career-high 12 rebounds against Fort Wayne. He followed that up with a season-high 13 points against Iowa.

• Senior guard Robert Johnson has been a starter for 107 of the 118 games he has been healthy to play since joining the team in 2014-15. The newest member of IU's 1,000-point club is averaging 13.9 points per game after he notched a career-high 28 points at Minnesota. He had 14 points and 5 assists against Wisconsin. He added 17 points against Northwestern and 21 at MSU.

• Senior guard Josh Newkirk has started 51 career games. He is shooting 38.5% from long distance against Big Ten opponents this year. He has made 43.8% (7-of-16) from long distance in the last 3 games.

• Junior forward Juwan Morgan is arguably one of the most improved players in the Big Ten. He has 6 double-doubles, the latest coming in a 21-point, 11 rebound effort against PSU, following a 20-point, 12-board performance at Minnesota. He is averaging 16.6 points and 7.5 rebounds in his last 10 games.

• Sophomore guard Devonte Green is averaging a team-high 7.3 points when coming off the bench. He had 13 points against Penn State and made 4 free throws in the final 30 seconds to preserve the win for IU. He also made 2 free throws in the final seconds to help IU beat Notre Dame.

• Redshirt junior Zach McRoberts has moved into the starting lineup and is averaging 3.4 points and 4.8 rebounds in the last 10 games. He had an IU career-high with 9 points against Fort Wayne and followed that up with 8 points against Tennessee Tech.

• Freshman forward Justin Smith is averaging 5.5 points and averages 2.9 rebounds per game. He had 20 points against Minnesota and made the go-ahead basket with 2:30 left in the game. He had 16 points and 12 rebounds earlier this season against Howard. He had 12 points and made 6 of 8 field goals against Maryland.

• Freshman guard Aljami Durham is averaging 4.9 points and 21.2 minutes per game. He had 9 points, 5 boards and 4 assists against South Florida. He had 5 points and 3 rebounds in 14 minutes against Northwestern and 5 points in 20 minutes at MSU.
