BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Women's Soccer announced the 2018 spring schedule on Thursday, featuring six games.
"We've lined up a challenging spring schedule that will push us to improve and allow us to face many different playing styles," said head coach Amy Berbary. "The next few months will help us lay the groundwork for the fall season so it's important that we get better with every opportunity."
The Hoosiers will open up play against Butler in the Circle City Showcase at Grand Park on Saturday, Feb. 24. The Bulldogs advanced to the NCAA Tournament last season after notching a 13-2-6 mark. Indiana leads the all-time regular season series against Butler, 12-6-1, including a 2016 1-0 victory in Indianapolis.
Indiana returns to action on Saturday, March 24 against St. Louis. The game against the Billikens, who finished the 2017 campaign 15-3-2, will be played at the IU practice field and will be open to the public. This is the third straight season the teams have faced off in the spring, while the regular season series is split, 1-1-1.
The lone spring game at Bill Armstrong Stadium will be Friday, April 6 against Evansville. Indiana leads the all-time series against the Purple Aces, who went 6-11 last year, 5-1-1. Admission to the game is free and open to the public.
The following weekend, Indiana heads to Western Kentucky to face against the Lady Toppers and Middle Tennessee State on Saturday, April 14. Western Kentucky finished 7-9-1 in 2017 and has never faced Indiana in the regular season. Middle Tennessee State went 8-10 last season and has faced Indiana once in the regular season – a 1-0 Indiana victory in 2015.
IU concludes its spring schedule on April 21 as the Hoosiers return to Grand Park to face off against in-state foe Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish finished the 2017 campaign 10-7-5 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen. Notre Dame leads the series against Indiana, 11-0 with the most recent meeting resulting in a 2-0 victory in 2015.
