OPENING TIP
• The 118th season of Indiana basketball continues on Sunday when the Hoosiers host Purdue. IU is coming off a 73-71 loss at Illinois, while Purdue beat Michigan, 92-88. IU is playing the 4th game of a 7-game, 17-day stretch which will see IU play four ranked opponents.
• Sophomore center De'Ron Davis, who started the first 15 games this season, underwent surgery on Jan. 10 to repair a torn Achilles tendon in his right leg and will miss the remainder of the season. The Colorado native is fourth in the Big Ten in field goal percentage (61.5%). He is averaging 9.6 points and 4.3 rebounds.
THE COACHES
• Archie Miller is the 29th head coach in Indiana men's basketball history. He won his 150th career game with the triumph over Northwestern on Jan. 14. The 39-year old native of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, comes to IU after serving the previous six seasons as head coach at the University of Dayton, where he won Atlantic 10 Conference regular season championships in 2016 and 2017. He was Atlantic-10 Coach of the Year in 2017. He guided the Flyers to a 139-63 record (69.8) and a 68-34 mark (66.7) in the Atlantic 10. He took Dayton to the NCAA Tournament each of the last four years, with the Flyers advancing to the Elite Eight in the 2014 Tournament. UD was nationally ranked in 3 of Miller's 6 seasons (2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16).
• Matt Painter is in his 13th year of leading the Purdue program. He has a 285-144 record.

• The Hoosiers are 4-0 in Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in Big Ten play this season. The Hoosiers defeated Maryland on Monday, 71-68.
• In Big Ten play, IU is second in the league in turnover margin (+3.1) and in steals (7.2).

• IU shot 50.0% from the field against Maryland, the first time it has made at least half of its field goal attempts since shooting 50.8% against Duke. IU followed that up by hitting on 56.8% of their shots at Illinois. The Hoosiers are shooting 53% (53 for 100) in the last 2 games.

• Junior walk-on Zach McRoberts entered the starting lineup six games ago and is third in Big Ten games only with 1.7 steals per game. He had an IU career-high 10-point effort at Illinois after posting 7 points, 3 assists and 3 steals against Maryland.
• Junior forward Juwan Morgan is one of just 4 major conference players to average 16.0 points, 7 rebounds and 1 assist/steal/block per game. The others are Marvin Bagley (Duke), Bonzie Colson (Notre Dame), and Keita Bates-Diop (Ohio State).

Hartman started 24 games for the eventual Big Ten champions in 2016, averaging 5.0 points and 3.1 rebounds per game. He had a career-high 18 points at Wisconsin and added 10 points and 5 boards against Penn State. He had 11 points in 16 minutes against Duke and had a career-high 12 rebounds against Fort Wayne. He followed that up with a season-high 13 points against Iowa.
• Senior guard Robert Johnson has been a starter for 108 of the 119 games he has been healthy to play since joining the team in 2014-15. The newest member of IU's 1,000-point club is averaging 13.6 points per game after he notched a career-high 28 points at Minnesota. He had 14 points and 5 assists against Wisconsin. He added 17 points against Northwestern and 21 at MSU.
• Senior guard Josh Newkirk has started 51 career games. He is shooting 37.0% from long distance against Big Ten opponents this year. He has made 41.2% (7-of-17) from long distance in the last 4 games.
