OPENING TIP
• The 118th season of Indiana basketball continues on Sunday when the Hoosiers host Purdue. IU is coming off a 73-71 loss at Illinois, while Purdue beat Michigan, 92-88. IU is playing the 4th game of a 7-game, 17-day stretch which will see IU play four ranked opponents.

• Sophomore center De'Ron Davis, who started the first 15 games this season, underwent surgery on Jan. 10 to repair a torn Achilles tendon in his right leg and will miss the remainder of the season. The Colorado native is fourth in the Big Ten in field goal percentage (61.5%). He is averaging 9.6 points and 4.3 rebounds.

THE COACHES
• Archie Miller is the 29th head coach in Indiana men's basketball history. He won his 150th career game with the triumph over Northwestern on Jan. 14. The 39-year old native of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, comes to IU after serving the previous six seasons as head coach at the University of Dayton, where he won Atlantic 10 Conference regular season championships in 2016 and 2017. He was Atlantic-10 Coach of the Year in 2017. He guided the Flyers to a 139-63 record (69.8) and a 68-34 mark (66.7) in the Atlantic 10. He took Dayton to the NCAA Tournament each of the last four years, with the Flyers advancing to the Elite Eight in the 2014 Tournament. UD was nationally ranked in 3 of Miller's 6 seasons (2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16).

• Matt Painter is in his 13th year of leading the Purdue program. He has a 285-144 record.

NEWS & NOTES
• The Hoosiers are 4-0 in Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in Big Ten play this season. The Hoosiers defeated Maryland on Monday, 71-68.

• In Big Ten play, IU is second in the league in turnover margin (+3.1) and in steals (7.2).

• In its 5 Big Ten wins, IU has a +26 turnover margin.

• IU shot 50.0% from the field against Maryland, the first time it has made at least half of its field goal attempts since shooting 50.8% against Duke. IU followed that up by hitting on 56.8% of their shots at Illinois. The Hoosiers are shooting 53% (53 for 100) in the last 2 games.

• Junior Juwan Morgan continues to put together an All-Big Ten type year. In the last 2 games, he has averaged 26.5 points and 7 rebounds and shot 68.8% from the floor. He had 28 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists at Illinois and finished with 25 points, 4 assists and 2 blocked shots against Maryland. He leads the Hoosiers in scoring (16.0 ppg) and is among the league leaders in rebounds (7.1) and field goal percentage (59.8%). He has had six double-doubles this season. He is the most improved scorer in the Big Ten averaging 8.3 points per game more overall and 10.5 points better in conference play. He is averaging 17.8 points in the Big Ten.

• Senior Robert Johnson has made 14 of his last 35 three-point field attempts (40.0) and is averaging 13.6 points in his last 5 games. He had a team-high 21 points against Michigan State and added 7 rebounds. He had a career-high 28 points at Minnesota. He is now in 31st place on the IU all-time scoring list with 1,264 points and fourth on the school's all-time list with 213 treys.

• Since replacing Davis in the starting lineup, freshman Justin Smith has averaged 9.5 points per game and shot a team-high 65.0% from the field in that time. He scored 20 points and hit the go-ahead shot in the final minutes at Minnesota. He had 9 points and 4 rebounds at Michigan State. He had 12 points against Maryland.

• Junior walk-on Zach McRoberts entered the starting lineup six games ago and is third in Big Ten games only with 1.7 steals per game. He had an IU career-high 10-point effort at Illinois after posting 7 points, 3 assists and 3 steals against Maryland.

• Junior forward Juwan Morgan is one of just 4 major conference players to average 16.0 points, 7 rebounds and 1 assist/steal/block per game. The others are Marvin Bagley (Duke), Bonzie Colson (Notre Dame), and Keita Bates-Diop (Ohio State).

• During the Hoosiers recent 3-game winning streak, they allowed opponents 62.3 points on 39.5% shooting from the field and 35.5% shooting from long range. They had entered the Minnesota game allowing 72.4 points per game on 43.9% shooting and 38.4% from 3FG range.

• IU held Northwestern without a double-figure scorer, marking the first time the Hoosiers had done that in a Big Ten game since 2/5/02 against Iowa.

• IU is 7-1 this season when making 8 or more three-point field goals in a game.

• The Hoosiers have made 53 of their last 100 field goal attempts in the last 2 games. They shot a season-high 56.8% at Illinois.

• IU posted its third win of the season when trailing with under 5:00 to go against Maryland. IU trailed 62-57 with 4:53 to go and outscored the Terps, 14-6. Minnesota led 67-62 with 4:53 to go and IU outscored them down the stretch, 13-4, for the win. The Hoosiers also trailed late against Notre Dame before pulling out the win. The Hoosiers trailed the Irish, 65-57 with 2:01 remaining in the game.

• Graduate forward Collin Hartman is back for a fifth year after sitting out last year with knee surgery. Hartman started 24 games for the eventual Big Ten champions in 2016, averaging 5.0 points and 3.1 rebounds per game. He had a career-high 18 points at Wisconsin and added 10 points and 5 boards against Penn State. He had 11 points in 16 minutes against Duke and had a career-high 12 rebounds against Fort Wayne. He followed that up with a season-high 13 points against Iowa.

• Senior guard Robert Johnson has been a starter for 108 of the 119 games he has been healthy to play since joining the team in 2014-15. The newest member of IU's 1,000-point club is averaging 13.6 points per game after he notched a career-high 28 points at Minnesota. He had 14 points and 5 assists against Wisconsin. He added 17 points against Northwestern and 21 at MSU.

• Senior guard Josh Newkirk has started 51 career games. He is shooting 37.0% from long distance against Big Ten opponents this year. He has made 41.2% (7-of-17) from long distance in the last 4 games.

• Sophomore forward De'Ron Davis is third on the team averaging 9.6 points and is second at 4.3 rebounds and is out for the season after having surgery on his right achilles.

• Sophomore guard Devonte Green is averaging a team-high 7.3 points when coming off the bench. He had 13 points against Penn State and made 4 free throws in the final 30 seconds to preserve the win for IU. He also made 2 free throws in the final seconds to help IU beat Notre Dame.

• Redshirt junior Zach McRoberts has moved into the starting lineup and is averaging 4.3 points and 3.9 rebounds in the last 10 games. He is averaging 8.5 points in his last 2 games.

• Freshman forward Justin Smith is averaging 5.5 points and averages 2.8 rebounds per game. He had 20 points against Minnesota and made the go-ahead basket with 2:30 left in the game. He had 16 points and 12 rebounds earlier this season against Howard. He had 12 points and made 6 of 8 field goals against Maryland. He has made 9 of his last 11 field goal attempts.

• Freshman guard Aljami Durham is averaging 4.7points and 20.7 minutes per game. He had 9 points, 5 boards and 4 assists against South Florida. He had 5 points and 3 rebounds in 14 minutes against Northwestern and 5 points in 20 minutes at MSU.

• Senior Freddie McSwain Jr. tied a career-high with 10 points against Tennessee Tech. He had 10 points with 9 rebounds against Eastern Michigan and 7 points against YSU. He had 5 points and 8 boards at Minnesota. He had 4 points and 5 rebounds and 2 assists against Northwestern. He had 4 points and 5 boards at MSU.

• Freshman Clifton Moore saw his most extensive Big Ten action and contributed 2 blocked shots in 7 minutes against Northwestern. He had 2 boards in 7 minutes at MSU.
