Coach Wurtzman knew he was getting two great recruits when Carson Haskins and Patrick Fletchall signed their NLI's last November. Both players have won their fair share of tennis matches and continue to compete on a regular basis as they prepare to play at the highest level of college tennis. What Coach Wurtzman didn't anticipate was the two commits finishing their junior tennis careers as well as they have.
Patrick Fletchall hails from Carmel, Indiana and was the first to verbally commit to Coach Wurtzman and the Hoosiers back in June of 2017. At that time, Patrick was the #104 ranked recruit in the country and the 2016 high school state singles champion as a junior. As of January 19, 2018, Patrick has reached a career high TennisRecruiting.net ranking of #42 in his class. He has also defended his high school state singles title solidifying his spot as the #1 high school player in the state of Indiana.
Carson Haskins heads to Bloomington by way of Ballwin, Missouri. Carson has been as consistent a performer as you can be during your junior career. A top 10 recruit in the nation for nearly all of his junior career, it would have been difficult for Carson to climb much higher than he already had. He was the 2016 Boys 16's Easter Bowl singles champion and was the USTA ranked #1 player in the country for the boys 16's. On December 18, 2017, he reached the #1 ranking in the country again, this time in the boys 18 and under division.
"Patrick and Carson are great examples of the types of players we want here at Indiana. They love to compete and continue to improve which is not always the case after recruits sign their NLI's. I think that really speaks to their character and work ethic and we can't wait to get to work with them both. They will both add a lot of value to this tennis program." - Jeremy Wurtzman
