Jaelynn Penn Repeats As Big Ten Freshman Of The Week

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Freshman guard Jaelynn Penn has been named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the second-straight week, announced by the conference office on Monday.
Penn repeats as the league's freshman of the week as she took the honors on Jan. 22 and is the first back-to-back weekly selection since Tyra Buss in 2014-15 (Nov. 17 and Nov. 24, 2014). She earned the honors following her performances in wins over Wisconsin and Rutgers where she averaged 11.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and shot 46.2 percent from the floor while going a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line and averaged 37.0 minutes per game.
In her performances last week, the Louisville, Ky. native added eight points, five rebounds and an assist while going 4-for-4 from the line as Indiana won its third-straight in the series over Wisconsin on Wednesday night. In the Hoosiers' victory over Rutgers on Saturday, Penn shot 57.1 percent from the field to tie a team-high 14 points. She also grabbed four rebounds, an assist and a steal while going 6-for-6 from the charity stripe.
In her freshman season, Penn is averaging 10.1 points, 4.9 rebounds and is shooting 39.1 percent from the floor as she has started in all 23 games while averaging 32.0 minutes per game. In conference play, she is averaging 11.6 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.
