• The 118th season of Indiana basketball continues on Tuesday when the Hoosiers continue Big Ten play by hosting Penn State. IU is coming off a 75-71 road win at Minnesota, while Penn State won at home against Northwestern, 78-63.
• Indiana and Penn State have seen their last 6 games come down to the final seconds. Last year, James Blackmon Jr. hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give IU a 78-75 win at Penn State, while the Hoosiers also posted a 110-102 triple overtime win in Bloomington. • Archie Miller is the 29th head coach in Indiana men's basketball history. The 39-year old native of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, comes to IU after serving the previous six seasons as head coach at the University of Dayton, where he won Atlantic 10 Conference regular season championships in 2016 and 2017. He was Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year in 2017. He guided the Flyers to a 139-63 record (69.8) and a 68-34 mark (66.7) in the Atlantic 10. He took Dayton to the NCAA Tournament each of the last four years, with the Flyers advancing to the Elite Eight in the 2014 Tournament. UD was nationally ranked in 3 of Miller's 6 seasons (2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16).
• Pat Chambers is in his seventh year of leading the Nittany Lion program. He has 99 career wins at PSU and is 2-9 against the Hoosiers.

• Junior Juwan Morgan was 2nd in the Big Ten in scoring (18.4) during the month of December. He was 3rd in rebounding (8.9) and 5th in field goal percentage (61.4%). In Big Ten play, Morgan is 5th in the league in scoring (19.0, 6th in rebounding (8.5) and 7th in field goal percentage (62.5%). He had 20 points, 12 rebounds and a career-high 4 blocks against Minnesota. He has improved his scoring 7.9 points per game since last season.
• With the Hoosiers down key contributors in De'Ron Davis (lower right leg) and Collin Hartman (sore right shoulder), freshman Justin Smith was inserted into the starting lineup at Minnesota and came though in a big way. He scored 20 points and hit the go-ahead shot in the final minutes to lead IU to a 75-71 road win against the Gophers. Smith made 7-of-10 shots, hit both of his 3-point attempts, all four free throw attempts and added 3 rebounds in 26 minutes. His 3-pointer with 2:30 remaining gave IU a 71-70 lead, and was a key part of Indiana's 13-4 run to close out the game. He also scored the team's first 5 points of the game. Hartman was coming off a career-high 18 point effort against Wisconsin and is day-to-day. Davis is out indefinitely.
• Senior Robert Johnson had a career-high 28 points against Minnesota and added 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals in 38 minutes. He is now in 37th place on the IU all-time scoring list with 1,196 points and sixth on the school's all-time list with 199 treys. He has averaged 17.5 points in his career against Penn State.
• Redshirt junior walk-on Zach McRoberts has moved into the starting lineup and his propensity to make winning plays is the reason why. Against Minnesota, he did not score, but had 7 rebounds (3 offensive), added 3 assists and had a career-high 4 steals. It was his offensive rebound off a Morgan missed free throw and assist in the final seconds that propelled IU to a comeback win earlier this season against Notre Dame.
• The Hoosiers made 8-of-19 three-pointers (42.1%) against Minnesota. IU is 6-0 this season when making 8 triples or more in a game.
• IU posted its second win of the season when trailing with under 5:00 to go. UM led 67-62 with 4:53 to go. IU outscored them down the stretch 13-4 for the win.
