BLOOMINGTON, Indiana - As the calendar turns to February, we wanted to take a look at how the four current high school seniors that have signed to join the Indiana basketball program next year are doing with their high school teams so far this season.
Jerome Hunter • (Pickerington North [Ohio])Jerome Hunter
Scored his 1,000th point in high school on Jan. 6, reaching the milestone in just three years … dropped 46 points in a triple OT win over perennial Ohio power Dublin Coffman … tallied a game-high 23 points in a win over Princeton, another top 10 team in Ohio … Scored 17 points vs. Shaker Heights and was named MVP of the Dunk 4 Diabetes game … in the Jan. 29 poll, Hunter and his Pickerington North team were ranked sixth in the state of Ohio in Division I (largest schools) … averaging 21.5 points, 11.1 rebounds and 2.6 steals per game this season while shooting 47 percent from the floor.
Robert Phinisee • (McCutcheon)Robert Phinisee
Through 18 games this season, Phinisee is averaging 30.3 points per game … also averaging 6.1 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 3.9 steals per game … most recently he scored 27 points and was 14-of-14 at the free throw line against Anderson … dropped 41 points in a win over Merrillville earlier this year … set the new Tippecanoe County scoring record with his 50-point outburst on Dec. 15 … has 1,832 career points as of Feb. 1, which ranks inside the top 150 all-time in Indiana High School boys basketball history.
Damezi Anderson • (South Bend Riley)Damezi Anderson
Anderson is averaging 20.4 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 1.0 block per game … he is also connecting at nearly a 40 percent clip from long range … has the South Bend Riley team undefeated (16-0) and ranked No. 25 in the country according to USA Today and No. 2 in the state according to the Associated Press … has 1,760 career points as of Feb. 1, which is 25 points shy of the South Bend boys record … scored 25 points in a overtime win against Mishawaka Marian … tallied 33 points in the win over South Bend Adams … was a nominee from the state of Indiana for the McDonald's All-American Game.
Jake Forrester • (Westtown [Pa.])Jake Forrester
Forrester is averaging 12 points and nine rebounds this season … Named to the Slam Dunk To Beach All-Tournament team after totaling 44 points, eight blocks and 11 rebounds at the event … scored 22 points and 10 rebounds at the National Hoops Festival … at the Spalding Hoop Hall Classic against IMG Academy, Forrest finished with 14 points, eight rebounds and three steals.
