Track & Field Claims Three Titles to Close Out Big Ten Indoor Championships

GENEVA, Ohio. – Indiana University track and field claimed three titles on the final day of the 2018 Big Ten Indoor Championships. The men's team finished with a total 86 points, which earned them a third place finished. The women's team tied with Ohio State for third place with a total of 75 points.
Daniel Kuhn arrived in Geneva prepared to leave everything he had out on the track for his last Big Ten Indoor Championships. The senior was successful when he was crowned the 600m champion for the third year in a row crossing the finish line in 1:17.14.
Senior Kendell Wiles was also prepared to leave it all on the track. Wiles ran a new personal best time of 1:27.98 in the 600m. Her performance earned the Hoosiers six points and she took the bronze medal home.
The Hoosiers swept the men's mile, earning a total of 24 points. Redshirt sophomore Kyle Mau took gold with the time of 4:13.85. Redshirt freshman Teddy Browning (second) and redshirt junior Joe Murphy (third) finished right behind Mau crossing with the times of 4:14.04 and 4:14.19.
On the women's side senior Brenna Calder finished third with the time of 4:46.92, earning six points. Junior Haley Harris brought home four points with her fifth place finish with the time of 4:47.27.
Redshirt junior Katherine Receveur claimed her second 5000m champion title Saturday evening. Receveur kept a steady pace sitting in third place for most of the race until the last turn where she picked it up and was able to beat Jillian Hunsberger of Penn State and Gina Sereno of Michigan to the finish line in 16:19.60. Junior Maggie Allen took sixth place, earning three points for the Hoosiers.
On the men's side redshirt freshman Ben Veatch brought home silver and added eight points to the men's score. Veatch stay in the front pack throughout the entire race and was able to pull ahead of Joe Hardy of Wisconsin to take second place with the time of 4:09.09.
Junior Kelsey Harris made the podium with her second place finish in the women's 800m. Harris finished behind Danae Rivers of Penn State (2:07.75) with the time of 2:08.46. Sophomore Joely Pinkston took fourth, earning five points for the women's team, with the time of 2:09.09.
On the men's side redshirt senior Jordan Huntoon earned three points with his sixth place finish. Huntoon crossed the finish line in 1:51.62. Sophomore William Session also took sixth place in the men's 60m hurdles with the time of 7.95.
In the field, redshirt senior Andrew Miller score four points when he took fourth in the men's weight throw with the final mark of 21.45m (70'4.5"). Senior Paul Galas took sixth in the men's high jump with the mark of 2.12m (6'11.5"), earning two points for the Hoosier men.
Junior Eric Bethea and sophomore Leah Moran both finished seventh overall in the triple jump, each earning two points. Bethea finished with the mark of 15.64m (51'3.75") and Moran finished with the mark of 12.30m (40'4.25").
