Track and Field Set To Compete In Two Meets This Weekend

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana University track and field will compete in two meets this weekend. The Hoosiers will send athletes to the Iowa State Classic and host the Hoosier Hills on Friday, February 9 at the Harry Gladstein Fieldhouse.
The men's team is coming into the weekend ranked No. 11 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) and the women's team is ranked No. 23.
Hoosier Hills:
The Hoosier Hills is set to start Friday evening at 4:00pm EST with the women's 60m hurdle trials. The first field event of the evening will be the men's weight throw and the men's long jump starting promptly at 4:00pm EST.
Sophomore William Session will be the athlete to watch in the men's 60m hurdles. He is currently ranked No. 4 in the Big from his performance last weekend at the Power 5 Invitational finishing with the time of 7.87.
Other events to keep an eye out for will be the women's 600m where senior Kendell Wiles will try and improve her current No. 4 Big Ten ranking. Wiles earned that ranking at the Indiana University Relays when she finished with the time of 1:29.82. Sophomore Mallory Mulzer will also being competing in the 600m run.
Redshirt junior Teddy Browning is currently ranked No. 9 in the Big Ten in the men's 800m run from his performance at the Indiana University Relays (1:50.97). Browning will be joined on the track by redshirt senior Jordan Huntoon who is currently ranked No. 11 in the Big Ten and redshirt freshman Marcus Ellington.
In the field junior Treyton Harris will compete in the men's long jump and high jump. Harris is currently ranked No. 2 in Big Ten in the long jump from his mark of 7.53m (24'8.5") at the Indiana University Relays. Friday will be Harris' second time this indoor season competing in the high jump, he currently is tied for the eighth best mark in the Big Ten (2.10m / 6'10.75") with teammate Paul Galas, who will also compete in the high jump Friday evening. Freshman Jyles Etienne is currently ranked No. 2 in the Big Ten in the high jump with the mark of 2.21m (7'3").
The men's triple jump will be another event to watch with junior Eric Bethea who currently has the fourth best mark in the Big Ten from his performance at the Kentucky Invitational finishing with the mark of 15.50m (50'10.25").
Sophomore Jenna Jungels will be competing in the women's long jump where she currently holds the fifth best mark in the Big Ten (6.03m / 19'9.5"). Junior Aaliyah Armstead and sophomore Leah Moran will also compete in long jump. Moran will be the only Hoosier competing in the women's triple jump Friday evening.
In the throwing events redshirt senior Andrew Miller is an athlete to watch in the men's weight throw. Miller is currently ranked No. 5 in the Big Ten from his winning mark of 21.73m (71'3.5") at the Indiana University Relays. Junior David Schall and freshman Nick Lane will also compete in the weight throw.
Schall and Lane will also compete in the men's shot put. Schall is currently ranked No. 4 in the Big Ten from his performance at the Tennessee Duals finishing with the mark of No. 4 18.70m (61'4.25").
In the women's shot put sophomore Khayla Dawson is ranked No. 3 in the Big Ten from her mark of 16.64 (54'7.25") at the Gladstein Invitational. Freshman Maddie Pollard will compete along side of Dawson Friday evening.
Sophomore Adam Coulon is coming into Friday evening ranked No. 4 in the Big Ten in the men's pole vault after his performance at the Gladstein Invitational (5.31m / 17'5"). Coulon will be joined by redshirt freshman Brock Mammoser and sophomore Alex Shinnerl in the pole vault.

Iowa State Classic:
The Hoosiers will send seven runners to the Iowa State Classic on Friday, February 9 and Saturday, February 10 in Ames, Iowa.
For the men, redshirt sophomore Kyle Mau and redshirt freshman Ben Veatch will start the Hoosiers off on Friday with the 3000m run. Veatch currently has the third fastest time (7:58.83) in the Big Ten and Mau has the fourth fastest time (8:03.10) both earned this ranking at the Gladstein Invitational.
On day two for the men, redshirt junior Joe Murphy will run the men's mile for the Hoosiers. Murphy is currently ranked No. 6 in the Big Ten from his performance at the Indiana University Relays with the time of 4:04.08. Senior Daniel Kuhn will close out the events for the men when he runs the 800m. Kuhn is currently ranked No. 2 in the Big Ten from his performance at the Kentucky Invitational (1:49.05).
For the women, junior Maggie Allen will start the Hoosiers off with the 5000m Friday evening. Allen currently has the third fastest time in the Big Ten when she finished with the time of 16:31.82 at the Hoosier Open in December. Redshirt junior Katherine Receveur will compete in the 3000m run also on Friday evening. Receveur currently is ranked No. 4 in the Big Ten from her 9:18.47 finish at the Gladstein Invitational.
Day two for the women will feature senior Brenna Calder in the mile where she is currently ranked No. 5 in the Big Ten from her performance at the Kentucky Invitational (4:43.92). Calder will have the competition of Penn State senior, Greta Lindsley who is currently ranked third in the Big Ten with the time of 4:43.34.
