48 Hoosiers Earn Winter Academic All-Big Ten Honors

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – A total of 48 student-athletes across five winter sports earned recognition from the Big Ten Conference Wednesday by being named to the Academic All-Conference team.
The 48 honorees is the second most in school history, just one shy of last year's record total of 49.
"We take tremendous pride in the academic successes and accolades of our students, and are very pleased to have this level of success in each of the last two years from our winter sports teams," Indiana University Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Fred Glass said. "We could not be prouder of our honorees and of our academic support staff."
To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, student-athletes must be letterwinners who are in at least their second academic year at their institution and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
The conference office also awards Academic All-Big Ten distinction in the spring seasons and will present the Distinguished Scholar Award at the end of the academic year. Student-athletes eligible for the Distinguished Scholar Award must be letterwinners in at least their second year at their institution. Qualifying student-athletes must earn a GPA of 3.7 or higher for the current academic year, excluding summer school. The Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Award was established by conference Faculty Representatives as an addition to the conference's Academic All-Big Ten program.
