Rowing Opens 2018 Season at Doc Hosea Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Indiana – The 15th ranked Indiana Rowing team will open the competitive spring season on Saturday at the Doc Hosea Invitational in Camden, New Jersey.
The regatta will begin at 8:00 a.m. ET with the First Varsity 8 followed by the Second Varsity 8, First Varsity 4 and then Second Varsity 4. The petite and grand finals will then get underway at 11:00am.

IN THE POLLS THIS WEEK
In the first USRowing/CRCA Coaches Poll of the 2018 season that was published on March 28, the Indiana Hoosiers are ranked No. 15, and are the fourth of seven ranked teams from the Big Ten.
The seven Big Ten teams that are ranked are Michigan (5), Ohio State (6), Wisconsin (11), Indiana (15), Iowa (17), Michigan State (18) and Minnesota (20).
UNPRECEDENTED SUCCESS FOR THE HOOSIERS
The Indiana Rowing program is in the midst of unprecedented success for the program, as they have made three consecutive appearances in the NCAA Championship in 2014, 2015 and 2016. Those three appearances marked the first three appearances in the NCAA Championship in program history.
In 2014, the Hoosiers finished 11th as a team and were led by the ninth-place finish of the 1V4 while the 1V8 finished 10th and the 2V8 came in 14th.
In 2015, Indiana once against finished 11th as a team with the 1V8 leading the way with another 10th place finish while the 2V8 checked in with a 11th place finish and the 1V4 registered a 13th place finish.
In 2016, Indiana finished 15th as a team with the 1V4 crew leading the way with a 12th place finish. The 2V8 crew finished fourth in the C final to take 14th place overall and the 1V8 earned a 16th place finish at the NCAA Championships.
In 2017, IU recorded a 12th place finish as a team with the 1V8 leading the way with a 12th place finish. The 2V8 won the C final to bring home 13th place and the 1V4 garnered 14th place by finishing second in their C final.
