No. 11 Indiana Earns Series Sweep over Butler with 10-3 Victory

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana baseball (20-5) earned its fourth-straight victory on Saturday by knocking off the Butler Bulldogs, 10-3, to sweep the series.
The Hoosiers collected 12 hits as a team and had five players tally multiple hits in the contest. Sophomore Matt Gorski led the way for IU, as he went 3-for-5 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored. Sophomore Scotty Bradley went 2-for-2 with three runs scored while senior Logan Sowers, junior Luke Miller and junior Matt Lloyd each recorded two hits as well.
Freshman Connor Manous started on the mound for Indiana and scattered two runs and five hits over five innings of work. Sophomore Cam Beauchamp improved two 3-0 on the year as he pitched two innings of relief, while senior B.J. Sabol and freshman Grant Sloan combined for two scoreless frames.
After Butler scored two in the top of the first the Hoosiers plated a run in the second and one in the fourth to tie the game up at two. Back-to-back single by Sowers and junior Ryan Fineman and a walk by Bradley led to a run when Gorski hit into a fielder's choice in the second. Back-to-back singles by Gorski and Bradley in the fourth set up an RBI for Justin Walker on a fielder's choice.
The Bulldogs retook the lead in the top of the sixth, but the Hoosiers answered with a four-spot in the bottom half. After Bradley walked, Gorski hit a two-run home run, his first of the year to, to allow IU to take a 4-3 edge. Later in the frame, RBI singles by Lloyd and Miller make it a 6-3 game.
The Hoosiers added three runs on a hit in the seventh and one run on two hits in the eighth to extend the lead to 10-3.
Indiana is back in action on Tuesday as it travels to Muncie, Ind. to take on the Ball State Cardinals. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m.
