
Hoosiers Break the Sprint Medley Relay School Record at Florida Relays

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Indiana University track and field closed the Florida Relays Saturday night. The Hoosiers set one new school record and ran two of the second fastest times in school history.
The women's sprint medley relay (SMR) team consisting of sophomore Megan Grabowski, freshman Zykeria Williams, freshman Natalie Price and junior Kelsey Harris set a new school record when the brought home a first place finish with the time of 3:49.08. The record was previously held by A. Baily, Clarke, Gray and Beckwith (2010). The Hoosiers finished about two seconds before Purdue who took second.
In the 4x800m both the men's team and the women's team ran the second fastest time in the Indiana University track and field record books. The men's team consisting of senior Jordan Huntoon, senior Daniel Kuhn, freshman Teddy Browning and sophomore Cooper Williams finished second behind the Hoka New Jersey/New York Track Club, making them the first collegiate team cross the finish line with the time of 7:20.23.
The men moved ahead of Allen, White, Rodholm and Deady who previously set the second best time in 1987 (7:20.75). The current best time is 7:17.80 from the 1987 Penn Relays ran by the team of Allen, Cameron, Deady and Rodholm.
The women's team consisting of Mallory Mulzer, Haley Harris, Joely Pinkston and Kendell Wiles also finished behind the Hoka New Jersey/New York Track Club, making them the first collegiate team to cross the finish line in 8:38.26. They moved ahead of the 2015 team consisting of Calder, Wiley, Stenger and Gwin. The current school record is 8:36.25 and was set by Wiles, Hippensteel, Receveur and Calder at the 2017 Penn Relays.
Junior Eric Bethea was the only Hoosier competing in the field on the third and final day of the Florida Relays. Bethea finished third overall with the mark of 15.76m (51' 8.5"), which is just .01m off of his outdoor personal record.
The Hoosiers will be back in action next weekend when the throwers head to the Spec Towns Invitational in Athens, GA hosted by the University of Georgia. The runners and jumpers will not compete next weekend as they prepare for the Tennessee Relays that will take place Friday, April 13th and Saturday, April 14th.
