ALL IN THE TOP 10
Indiana completed its regular season with another top 10 finish, this time in the rain-shortened Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational to finish sixth overall out of 14 teams. IU has come in the top 10 of all five tournaments played in the spring with its highest finish at the Fresno State Classic where they finished second. They have finished in the top half of all but one tournament they've competed in this year and are sitting at No. 58 in the latest Golfstat rankings and 62 in Sagarin.
LAST TIME OUT
Behind Elisa Pierre's first top 10 finish, Indiana finished sixth at the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational. Pierre combined for a two-round score of 147 to mark her first top 10 finish of her career. Two other Hoosiers finished in the top 20, with junior Erin Harper's T13th finish (148) and freshman Mary Parsons in T20th (149).
HOOSIERS FINISH SIXTH AT EL TIGRE
Led by freshman Priscilla Schmid, Indiana climbed to sixth on the final day of the Hawkeye El Tigre Invitational on Saturday. They combined for a three-round score of 899, finishing just seven strokes out of second place. Schmid led the way in a tie for 15th overall shooting a combined 224 (72, 75, 77).
HAPRER WINS AS IU FINISHES SECOND AT FRESNO STATE CLASSIC
Junior Erin Harper collected her first career medalist honor shooting 5-under par as Indiana finished second overall at the Fresno State Classic. Harper went 2-under in Tuesday's final round and tied UC Irvine's Avery Finch with a 211 to finish two strokes over Nishtha Madan of Sacramento State. The Dublin, Ohio native shot a 70 in the final round to go along with a 70 and 71 as she carded four more birdies to add to her total of 12 in the tournament.
HIGHLIGHTS OF 2017-18
Just a few tournaments into the spring season, IU has compiled some record book worthy team and individual performances. At the Fresno State Classic, Erin Harper's 211 tied for the third-best three round individual performance in school history (Shannon Johnson, 2006). Opening up the spring season at the Westbrook Invitational, IU combined for a 54-hole score of 853 which is the second-best performance in a three-round tournament in school history.
BOARD OF TRUSTEES APPROVES IU GOLF COURSE RENOVATION PROJECT
On Oct. 6, 2017, the Indiana University Board of Trustees approved the design for the Indiana University Golf Course Renovation, which includes a new clubhouse and entirely new course layout.
The redesigned golf course, which will include a new clubhouse and driving range, will feature new hole layouts that challenge beginning through advanced golfers. The course also will be revitalized by returning part of the current course to native landscape, including the addition of about 70 acres of new trees, shrubs and other plantings to replace and augment dead or diseased trees. Golfers will be able to choose from several tee box locations and the greens will be designed for the approach shots of many skill levels. The par 71 course has a maximum yardage of about 7,700 yards and a minimum of about 4,500 yards, depending upon the tee location selected.
View Hole-By-Hole Layout
The new clubhouse with cart storage and an attached outdoor covered pavilion will be located near the Indiana University Foundation, along with the driving range. The clubhouse will include visual references to the campus including stone accents and an exterior clock with details reminiscent of the Frances Morgan Swain Student Building tower clock. The interior will include a golf shop, Alumni Hall, space to showcase the history of IU Golf, casual dining and snack bar, and public restrooms/locker rooms.
