Hoosiers Win Regular Season Finale Over Rutgers, 5-2

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – In their final regular season match, the Indiana women's tennis team came through with a 5-2 victory over Rutgers on Sunday at the Rutgers Tennis Complex.
The Hoosiers (17-10, 4-7) captured their 17th win of the season, which represents the most for the program since the 2013-14 season when they won 19 matches.
Indiana will now await the bracket for the Big Ten Tournament, to see who they will match up against on Thursday April 26 in Minneapolis, Minn.
After Xiwei Cai and Natalie Whalen won their doubles match, Caitlin Bernard and Olga Zavarotnaya won 7-6 to put the Hoosiers up 1-0 against the Scarlet Knights.
Freshmen Michelle McKamey and Olga Zavarotnaya quickly put Indiana up 3-0 with wins in singles.
Senior Xiwei Cai clinched the match for the Hoosiers with a 7-5, 6-0 win and junior Madison Appel added a point for Indiana with a 7-6, 6-0 win at the No. 1 singles position.
