BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana University head men's soccer coach Todd Yeagley announced the program's 2018 schedule on Tuesday, which features eight regular-season home matches at Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium in Bloomington, Ind.
The Hoosiers' 2018 slate is one of the most difficult schedules in the country, featuring matches against 10 NCAA Tournament teams from last season and nine squads who finished in the top-25 or were receiving votes in the final United Soccer Coaches poll.
A staggering 15 of Indiana's 17 regular-season opponents finished in the top-100 of the 2017 NCAA RPI, including 12 in the top-50 and eight in the top-20. The slate features five teams who reached the third round of the NCAA Tournament in 2017 and three who advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals.
"We are very excited about our 2018 schedule, Yeagley remarked. "The non-conference slate will be one of the toughest we have faced in recent years, highlighted by an opening weekend road trip to play North Carolina and Wake Forest. The Big Ten will once again be one of the top conferences in the nation, providing great matchups every weekend. Our fans are going to enjoy following a very motivated Indiana team as we look to create another memorable season."
Season tickets for 2018 are now on sale at $24 for adults and $8 for ages 3-18. Children two and under are free. Each adult season ticket also comes with a $10 concession voucher. Indiana University faculty/staff and students receive free admission with school ID on game day.
Season tickets can be purchased at the IU Athletics Ticket office, by phone (1-866-IUSPORTS) or online at IUHoosiers.com.
For the first time in six years, the Hoosiers will open a season outside the state of Indiana, as IU will face Wake Forest (Aug. 24) and North Carolina (Aug. 26) on the road.
No team in the country will face a tougher opening weekend, as Wake Forest finished No. 1 in the RPI in 2017 and UNC finished No. 2. Last year, Indiana beat the Tar Heels, 1-0, in the College Cup National Semifinals to advance to the Championship match. Wake Forest was the top-seed in the NCAA Tournament a year ago, falling to eventual champion Stanford at home in the quarterfinals.
Indiana begins the home schedule with the annual adidas/IU Credit Union Classic, which will feature the Hoosiers, Notre Dame, Dartmouth and UConn in 2018. The Hoosiers will face Dartmouth on Friday, Aug. 31 before battling UConn on Sunday, Sept. 2.
The 2018 adidas/IU Credit Union Classic will feature three teams (Indiana, Notre Dame and Dartmouth) who all made the NCAA Tournament last season. All four squads finished in the top-100 of the NCAA RPI in 2017.
The Hoosiers will host a pair of non-conference opponents at Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium this coming season. IU will play VCU on Sept. 7 and in-state rival Butler on Oct. 16. Both the Rams and the Bulldogs finished last year in the top-20 if the RPI.
IU will face Notre Dame (Sept. 11), Evansville (Sept. 21) and Kentucky (Oct. 3) on the road to round out the non-conference slate.
The Big Ten schedule in 2018 for the Hoosiers includes home matches against Northwestern (Sept. 26), Penn State (Sept. 30), Maryland (Oct. 12) and Michigan State (Oct. 28).
Indiana will visit Big Ten rivals Wisconsin (Sept. 16), Michigan (Oct. 7), Rutgers (Oct. 19) and Ohio State (Oct. 24).
The Big Ten Tournament will run from Nov. 4-11, with quarterfinal matches being hosted on campus sites on Nov. 4. The semifinal and championship matches will be hosted at a neutral site, Nov. 9 and 11, to be announced.
The 2018 NCAA College Cup will take place Dec. 7 and 9 at Meredith Field at Harder Stadium in Santa Barbara, Calif. Dates for the opening rounds of the NCAA Tournament will be announced at a later date.
Prior to the start of the regular season, the Hoosiers will play three exhibition matches. IU will host Xavier at Armstrong Stadium on Aug. 12, before taking on Louisville at Grand Park in Westfield, Ind. on Aug. 15. Indiana will play Akron in Fort Wayne, Ind. on Aug. 17 as part of the National Soccer Festival.
Single game tickets go on sale in July. Prices are $5 for adults, $3 for youth (ages 3-18) and $2 for groups of 25 or more. Family Packages are $28 and fans will receive four tickets and food vouchers to be exchanged at the Armstrong Stadium concession stand. Family Packages must be purchased in advance of game day.
Flex Package tickets will also be available again this season. Each flex package will include eight vouchers to be exchanged on game day at any home IU men's soccer match. Adult flex packages will be $32 and youth (ages 3-18) flex packages will be $16.
