BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Women's Golf head coach Clint Wallman has announced the addition of Kari Bellville as a graduate transfer on Wednesday. Bellville comes to Indiana after graduating from Notre Dame this May.
"We are so excited that Kari will finish her career as a Hoosier," IU head coach Clint Wallman said. "She brings an impressive record as both a junior and collegiate golfer. I expect her to make a huge contribution to the program both on and off the course."
Bellville sat out the 2017-18 season due to injury but played in 19 tournaments for the Fighting Irish. The Granger, Ind. native recorded a 77.51 stroke average in three seasons played, coming in with a career low of 68 during her sophomore season.
As a sophomore, posted a 76.80 stroke average in seven tournaments with a T15th finish at the Mary Fossum Invitational. She also posted her highest collegiate finish as a sophomore at the Chip-N Club Invitational where she tied for fourth place at even par 216. In between her freshman and sophomore seasons, Bellville qualified as first alternate for US. Women's Amateur Championship from Grosse Ile (Michigan) sectional after carding an even-par 72.
During her freshman season at Notre Dame, Bellville was fifth overall in stroke average with a 77.37 while playing in all 10 tournaments including the NCAA Regional in South Bend. She turned in her best performance of the season at the ACC Championships that year when she went a career-low four-over par 220.
Her older brother, Ben, played three seasons (2008-11) for Indiana Men's Golf, helping his team to NCAA regionals in each of his three years. Bellville played four years at Penn High School in Mishawaka, Indiana where she was a four-time All-American selection on Future Collegians World Tour (FCWT) where she was the 2009-10 FCWT Central Regional Player of the Year. When she signed her NLI, she was ranked 33rd by Golfweek and 54th by Junior Golf Scoreboard. Bellville collected seven tournament wins and 14 top-10 finishes (never placed lower than tie for 16th place in 16 career FCWT events) with a 77.1 career FCWT scoring average (75.9 in her final FCWT campaign, tying for seventh on tour list among players completing at least five rounds).
Bellville graduated from Notre Dame in May from the Mendoza College of Business with a degree in marketing. She was a SAAC representative for three years and was active in Fighting Irish Fight for Life program. At Indiana, she will be pursuing a degree in sports management.
