Won football letters in 1938, 1939 and 1940…won track letters in 1939, 1940 and 1941…as an end, led Big Ten in pass receiving in 1940 and was second team All-Big Ten…won Big Ten indoor shot put title in 1940 and 1941…set a world record in the discus in 1941 with a toss of 174-9 in winning the NCAA Championships…also won U.S. National Championships in 1941 in the discus.
