Athletic Director from 1961 to 1975...during his tenure the Hoosiers won 37 Big Ten championships and six NCAA titles including Big Ten football title tie and Rose Bowl appearance in 1967...among coaches hired under the Orwig regime were John Pont in football and Bob Knight in basketball...former President of National Athletic Directors of America...former Michigan coach and athlete... former athletic director at Toledo and Nebraska.
