Jared Jeffries is one of the most dynamic players in IU Men's Basketball history. In his first season with IU under first-year coach Mike Davis, the Bloomington, Ind., native earned Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors after averaging 13.8 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game while leading IU to a No. 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament. As a sophomore, Jeffries was even better, winning Big Ten Most Valuable Player recognition and second-team All-America honors after averaging 15.0 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks. He led the 2002 Hoosiers to a Big Ten co-championship and a memorable run to the 2002 NCAA Tournament national championship game. Following that NCAA runner-up season, Jeffries entered the NBA Draft and was selected 11th overall by the Washington Wizards. He went on to enjoy an 11-year career in the NBA across four different franchises, compiling career averages of 4.8 points and 4.1 rebounds before officially retiring from professional basketball in 2013.
