Won track letters in 1957, 1958 and 1959...won Big Ten indoor high hurdle title in 1959 and Big Ten outdoor hurdle titles in 1957, 1958, and 1959, seven Big Ten Championships in all...member of 1960 U.S. Olympic team where he won the silver medal in the hurdles...still holds IU record in the event...has coached high school track for the last 45 years, winning a state championship at Evanston High in 1979...has coached 46 state medalists.
