The Indiana football team had its season ending awards banquet on Tuesday, November 25, 1997. The following awards were presented:

The AL BARSCH AWARD
(to a player who has hung tough and fought through adversity) was awarded to senior linebacker Aaron Warnecke (Fairland, Ind./Triton Central).
The HOWARD BROWN AWARD
(to the player who exemplifies the qualities of former Indiana assistant coach Howard Brown) was awarded to junior fullback Chris Gall (River Forest, Ill./River Forest).
The CHRIS DAL SASSO AWARD
(to the offensive lineman who exemplifies the qualities of Chris Dal Sasso, a three-year letterman and captain in 1936) was awarded to senior offensive tackle Chris Liwienski (Sterling Heights, Mich./Stevenson).
The CORBY DAVIS MEMORIAL AWARD
(established by the family and friends of Corby Davis to honor the senior player whose conduct on campus, in the classroom and on the football field most closely exemplifies the qualities of former Big Ten MVP Corby Davis) was awarded to senior center Chris Lee (Anniston, Ala./Anniston).
The ANTHONY THOMPSON, MOST VALUABLE PLAYER AWARD
was awarded to Chris Gall and senior safety Kywin Supernaw, (Skiatook, Okla./NE Oklahoma JC).
The TED VERLIHAY AWARD
(to the Indiana University football player who has demonstrated the best mental attitude and loyalty to Indiana Football) was awarded to senior defensive lineman Benyard Jones (Kankakee, Ill./Kankakee).
The TED WHEREATT AWARD
(to a senior player who has excelled academically) was awarded to senior linebacker Casey Kobi (Fort Wayne, Ind./Bishop Luers HS).
The BILL ARMSTRONG SPIRIT OF INDIANA AWARD
to senior linebacker Kevin Glaser (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier).
The BASE CLUB AWARD
(to those players who played well enough for Indiana to win (had to tally in 8 of 11 weeks) was awarded to Chris Gall and Kywin Supernaw.
