TOP-RANKED SOCCER HOOSIERS DEFEAT PENN STATE 2-0
Bloomington, Ind. -- The top-ranked Indiana Hoosiers knocked-off Penn State 2-0 behind first half goals from Nick Garcia and SimonJDeery.
Garcia's goal came at the 40:48 mark as he received a pass from Gino DiGuardi and drove it home from 12 yards out. Deery came off the bench in the first half and just two minutes later blew home a shot from 25 yards out.
That was all the scoring the Hoosiers would need as the IU defense held the Nittany Lions without a shot. It was the third time in school history Indiana has held an opponent without a shot and the first time since 1979 when IU held Illinois without a shot. While holding PSU without a shot, the Hoosiers collected 12 themselves.
"We had a good defensive effort tonight," head coach Jerry Yeagley said. "But this was not our best offensive effort this evening. We'll have to do better on that end of the field if we want to continue to keep winning."
