HOOSIERS DEFEAT UCLA AT FRESNO STATE CLASSIC
Fresno, Calif.-- The Indiana softball team upset UCLA, one of the best softball programs in the country, yesterday at the Fresno State Softball Classic by the score of 6-2. The Bruins of UCLA have won seven NCAA titles, more than any other school.
The Hoosiers (4-9) started the attack early scoring four runs in the first three innings. In total, they cracked six hits and scored six runs against the Bruins.
Junior Khara Good and senior Ashley Gayer were in control for the Hoosiers both going 2-3. Good added three runs, and Gayer had two RBI for the cause. In addition, Jennifer Pullon and Monica Armendarez each had one hit.
Sophomore Teresa Martinez went the distance giving up only two runs and three walks. Martinez moves up to 2-3 on the season.
In other games, the Hoosiers lost to Fresno State late last night 15-0. The fourth ranked Bulldogs (5-2) had 14 hits compared to the Hoosiers two. Also early today, Indiana concluded the Fresno State Softball Classic playing the Lady Volunteers of Tennessee losing 4-2. Gayer took charge against Tennessee going 3-3 with one RBI.
The Cream and Crimson will be back in action on Wed., March 11 at Butler University. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
