SOCCER HOOSIERS ROUT KENTUCKY, 9-0
Bloomington, Ind.PChris Klein and Dema Kovalenko each scored a hat trick for the No. 1 ranked Hoosiers as IU defeated the Wildcats, 9-0.
Indiana scored five goals in the first half and four in the second behind KovalenkoUs second career hat trick andJKleinUs first. Indiana also received two goals from Matt Fundenberger and one from J.T. Cerroni.
Klein, a senior, opened up the scoring for IU, with an 18-yard shot four minutes into the game. He scored again 19 minutes later on an assist from Kovalenko. Klein also recorded two assists on the night.
The Hoosiers outshot the Wildcats, 20-4, as Kentucky failed to record a
shot in the second half.
With the win, the undefeated Hoosiers improve to 8-0, while Kentucky falls
to 5-3-1.
The Hoosiers open up the Big Ten season on Sunday against Michigan State. The Hoosiers face the Spartans at 2 pm at Armstrong Stadium.
