MICHIGAN TOPS INDIANA IN ANN ARBOR
Ann Arbor, MI--The seventh-ranked Michigan Wolverines showed why they have won 11 of the last 12 Big Ten Championships Saturday afternoon by defeating Indiana, 154-86. The loss snapped the Hoosiers four meet win streak and put them at 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the Big Ten. Winners for Indiana were Mike Collier on the one-meter and Joe Trent in the 500 freestyle.
Collier placed first with a score of 312.15. Tom Davidson and Ryan Kosanic finished in the top five. Davidson was third and Kosanic was fifth. Trent won in a time of 4:42.73 and was followed by Chris Gage and Ryan Tabereaux in second and third.
Tom Davis, Rob Iglinski, and Tom Wanezek all had second-place finishes. Davis was second in the 200 breaststroke and Iglinski finished second in the 200 butterfly. Wanezek had two second-place finishes in the 50 and 100 freestyle, both times were personal bests for this season. In the 50 free, he swam in :21.38 and the 100 free, :46.76.
The next meet for Indiana will be at the Counsilman/Billingsley Aquatic
Center. The Hoosiers take on Big Ten rival Purdue at 4:00pm on February
7. After that meet, they will tune up for the Big Ten Championships at
Minnesota, February 26-28.
