WATER POLO TAKES TWO IN SEASON DEBUT
Hoosiers finish 2-0-1 in first day of Indiana Invitational
Bloomington, Ind.- The Indiana women's water polo team kicked off their inaugural season with an impressive showing at the Indiana Invitational finishing the day with two victories and a tie. The Hoosiers defeated Northwestern 14-2 and Wisconsin 12-4 while fighting down to the wire against the Wolverines of Michigan tying 5-5.
Freshman Kristin Carpenter lead the Hoosiers with four goals against the Northwestern Wildcats as sophomore Megan Morgan chipped in with three goals of her own. Carpenter dominated the second game as she poured in five goals against the Wisconsin Badgers. Tension was high as the Hoosiers played in front of the largest crowd of the day. Graduate student Amy Pankoke and freshman Kelly McKay were the co-leading scorers for the Hoosiers with two goals a piece.
The Hoosiers wrap up their first tournament of the season as day two of the Indiana
Invitational begins at 10 a.m. on Sunday, February 1st. The Hoosiers will square off against
Michigan State at 12 p.m. and undefeated Miami of Ohio at 3:00 p.m.
