GAME DATA: The Indiana Hoosiers play the first of two home games this week as they host Michigan tonight. IU is on a two-game losing streak to open league play after it lost at Illinois 74-72 Saturday. That loss puts its record at 9-5 overall and 0-2 in the Big Ten. This is Indiana's third game in a stretch where it is playing three games in seven days to open the league season.
TELEVISION: The Michigan game is being broadcast throughout the nation on ESPN. Dave Barnett and Quinn Buckner call the action.
RADIO: Every IU game can be heard on the IU Radio Network. The flagship station is WBWB in Bloomington which provides a statewide network. Don Fischer, Bob Hammel, Joe Smith and Norm Ellenberger call the action. The pregame show begins 40 minutes prior to tipoff.
INDIANA HEAD COACH BOB KNIGHT: is college basketball's winningest active head coach with 709 victories (all games at the Division I level). He is just one of 12 NCAA coaches all-time to have recorded 700 or more victories. He is in his 27th season as the Indiana head coach and has a record of 607-213 (.740). Knight is in his 33rd season as a collegiate head coach and has an overall record of 709-263 (.729). Knight's record in Big Ten play is 325-133 (.710). He has led the Hoosiers to three NCAA titles (1976, 1981 and 1987) and a conference record 11 Big Ten Championships (1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1980, 1981, 1983, 1987, 1989, 1991 and 1993). He was inducted into the National Basketball Hall of Fame in May of 1991. Knight is 33-19 vs. Michigan overall and 33-18 while at Indiana.
THE SERIES: Indiana and Michigan are meeting for the 131st time. The Hoosiers lead the all-time series 82-48 after winning both meetings between the teams last year. IU won 72-70 in Bloomington and then won 84-81 in overtime at Ann Arbor. Indiana has won three of the last four meetings. Indiana is 21-4 all-time against the Wolverines at home and are 49-12 all-time against UM in games played in Bloomington.
INDIANA'S BIG TEN HISTORY: The Indiana Hoosiers are playing their 91st season of Big Ten basketball. Indiana began playing Big Ten basketball in 1905 (IU missed the 1907 and 1908 seasons). The Hoosiers are the winningest team in conference history with a 59.5% winning percentage (734-499). Indiana is second in league history with 19 titles.
