GAME DATA: The Indiana Hoosiers play the second of two home games this week as they host Ohio State this afternoon. IU snapped a two-game losing streak as they defeated Michigan 80-62 Tuesday. That victory puts IU's record at 10-5 overall and 1-2 in the Big Ten. The win also adverted Indiana's first 0-3 conference start since 1972.
TELEVISION: The Ohio State game is being broadcast on the over-the-air ESPN-Plus network. John Laskowski and Ted Kitchel call the action.
RADIO: Every IU game can be heard on the IU Radio Network. The flagship station is WBWB in Bloomington which provides a statewide network. Don Fischer, Bob Hammel, Joe Smith and Norm Ellenberger call the action. The pregame show begins 40 minutes prior to tipoff.
INDIANA HEAD COACH BOB KNIGHT: is college basketball's winningest active head coach with 710 victories (all games at the Division I level). He is just one of 12 NCAA coaches all-time to have recorded 700 or more victories. He is in his 27th season as the Indiana head coach and has a record of 608-213 (.741). Knight is in his 33rd season as a collegiate head coach and has an overall record of 710-263 (.730). Knight's record in Big Ten play is 326-133 (.710). He has led the Hoosiers to three NCAA titles (1976, 1981 and 1987) and a conference record 11 Big Ten Championships (1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1980, 1981, 1983, 1987, 1989, 1991 and 1993). He was inducted into the National Basketball Hall of Fame in May of 1991. Knight is 36-15 vs. Ohio State overall and 34-15 at Indiana.
KNIGHT ON THE WEB: Bob Knight has entered cyberspace with his own web site. The site debuted in December. CoachBobKnight.com is a comprehensive look at the coach both on and off the court and the 1997-98 Hoosiers. The site features gameday information, team stats and a text of Coach's postgame press conferences plus many other features. Future aspects of the site will include on-line real time stat updates from games.
THE SERIES: Indiana and Ohio State are meeting for the 153rd time. The Hoosiers lead the all-time series 89-63 after the teams split both meetings last year. Ohio State won 73-67 in Columbus while the Hoosiers won 93-76 in Bloomington. Indiana has won five of the last six meetings. Indiana is 23-2 all-time against the Wolverines in Assembly Hall and are 55-19 all-time against OSU in games played in Bloomington.
INDIANA'S BIG TEN HISTORY: The Indiana Hoosiers are playing their 91st season of Big Ten basketball. Indiana began playing Big Ten basketball in 1905 (IU missed the 1907 and 1908 seasons). The Hoosiers are the winningest team in conference history with a 59.6% winning percentage (735-499). Indiana is second in league history with 19 titles.
