SOLID PLAY OVER LAST THREE HALVES: The Hoosiers have been solid over the last game and a half averaging 42.3 points in those halves. Here's a look at these halves.

DOUBLE YOUR FUN: William Gladness had his first career double-double with 14 points and a career-high 12 rebounds vs. Michigan. That was the third double-double of the season for the Hoosiers as Andrae Patterson has the other two. However, this tandem has been close to garnering at least four more such performances. Patterson has had nine rebounds three times and eight another while Gladness had 13 points and 9 rebounds against Temple.
CHART WATCHING: A.J. Guyton is now seventh on IU's all-time 3-point attempt list with 226 (Greg Graham is sixth with 246). Guyton also needs 19 3-pointers to move into seventh on that all-time list and surpass Steve Alford who had 107. Andrae Patterson now has 1,120 career points which is 26th on the all-time scoring list (Quinn Buckner is 25th at 1,195 points).
JUST WONDERING: The last time Indiana lost to Iowa (before last week's loss) at home was back on Feb. 21, 1991. The Hoosiers then went on a 50-game home winning streak which lasted from Feb. 24, 1991 to Jan. 24, 1995. The Hoosiers are 1/50th of the way to accomplishing this again after Tuesday's victory.
BALANCED ATTACK: Although the conference season is just three games old, the Hoosiers have proven to be a balanced team at least when it comes to scoring. A.J. Guyton (15.0), Andrae Patterson (14.0), William Gladness (11.0) and Luke Recker (10.0) are all scoring in double figures. Michael Lewis (9.3) and Rob Turner (8.0) are just a basket off of joining this group.
BEST FOOT FORWARD: A number of Hoosiers posted season-highs in the game vs. Michigan. The following are all season-highs. William Gladness' 12 rebounds (also a career-high), Charlie Miller's 12 points, Andrae Patterson's 19 points and Larry Richardson's 6 rebounds (also a career-high).
THE BIG FOUR: A.J. Guyton, Luke Recker, Andrae Patterson and Rob Turner are the top scorers for the Hoosiers. In fact the quartet has accounted for 62.4% (703-1,126) of Indiana's scoring this season.
PATTERSON ON THE RISE: Andrae Patterson's stats and play has been on the rise. In the last six games he is averaging 13.7 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. During those same six games, he has blocked 7 shots and registered 7 steals. His rebounding average of 6.3 is just 0.4 off his career season best of 6.7 set last year.
COMEBACK KIDS: The victory over Western Michigan marked the fourth time this season the Hoosiers have overcome a halftime deficit and won the game. Last year IU was 4-9 when trailing at the half but this season they are 4-3. This record also includes wins over UAB, South Alabama and USF Indiana also overcame a 22-point second half deficit at Illinois to tie the game.
FROM THE FIELD: The Hoosiers have shot better then 50% in each of the last two games (57-107, 53.2%). This mini-streak broke a six-game sub-50% streak. IU's 55.6% mark vs. Michigan was its third best total of the season. The Hoosiers have been a good second half shooting team, bettering 50% in 11 of the last 12 second halves. The Hoosiers shooting percentage stands at 48.6% coming into this afternoon's game. That mark is still above last season's 43.8% team mark. Three Hoosiers P William Gladness (54.3%), Rob Turner (54.2%) and Luke Recker (50%) P are shooting at least 50% from the field. The Hoosiers have shot 50.3% (285-567) in their victories but just 45.1% (123-273) in the losses. Last season the Hoosiers shot better than 50% only three times but have done so six times this year.
CHARITY TOSSES: Indiana had its second-worst game from the line vs. Michigan as it connected on just 13-22 (59.1%). This low-water mark came on the heels of three games above 70% (42-55, 77.8%). Indiana's season-high is 94.1% (16-17) against Northeast Louisiana and that mark ties for the 10th best in school history. Indiana was one of the top free throw shooting teams in the nation last season finishing second at 76.6%. The Hoosiers come into tonight's game at 70.9%. Michael Lewis is the top player at 35-41 (85.4%). In the victories IU has made 174 free throws while the opponents have attempted 160. In the losses the opponents have almost twice as many attempts (100) as IU does free throws (58). The Hoosiers are shooting 72.8% from the line in the victories but just 65.4% in the losses.
THREE-POINTERS: The Hoosiers connected on a season best 7-11 3-pointers vs. Michigan. Over the last two games IU has made 13-26. This is a marked improvement over the three previous games where IU had made just 11-49 (22.4%). The last two games mark the first time this season IU has shot better than 40% in consecutive games. Indiana is shooting 35.1% on the season. A.J. Guyton is the top long range shooter at 33-81 (40.7%). A.J. Guyton leads the team with 33 treys and he, Turner and Luke Recker have combined to make 62 of the Hoosiers 78 3-pointers. IU is shooting 37.4% in the losses but 33.6% in the victories.
THE BOARD REPORT: Indiana "rebounded" from its -21 margin against Iowa to outrebound Illinois 33-31 and Michigan 39-31. Prior to the Iowa game, Indiana had been doing a good job on the boards averaging 41.5 boards per game in two previous contests. Iowa's 48 rebounds was an opponents season-high while the 27 IU boards was just two off a season-low. Indiana's rebounding margin is +1.9. The Hoosiers have been outrebounded in three of their losses and are at a -2.0 margin in the losses. IU has registered 40+ rebounds five times. The Hoosiers have held an edge in rebounding in nine games.
ASSISTS ANGLE: IU has registered at least 17 assists in each of the last seven games. They have also had at least as many assists as turnovers in each of the last nine games. The Hoosiers have registered 20 or more assists six times this season. The Hoosiers have averaged 19.5 in the last 12 games after an average of just 11.7 in the first three games. Taking care of the ball has been a good barometer for Indiana success this season. In the victories they have 196 (19.6) assists but just 74 (14.8) in the losses. Indiana's assists to turnovers ratio (+37) is at its highest mark of the season.
TURNOVER TALE: The Hoosiers have been taking care of the ball as they have averaged just 13.8 turnovers per game in the last eight contests. This stretch includes a season-low 10 vs. UW-Green Bay. This average is below the season average of 15.5 per game. The number of miscues has decreased in each of the last three games (17-15-13). In the victories the Hoosiers have turned the ball over 140 times (14 tpg) while in the losses that number inflates to 93 (18.6 tpg). Indiana has registered 10 games this season in which the assists have outnumbered the turnovers (happened only 5 times last season).
BLOCK PARTY: The Hoosiers have 56 blocks this season but 46 of those have come in the victories. The Hoosiers have had only 8 in the three Big Ten games after averaging 4.5 a game in the four previous contests. Andrae Patterson (16) leads the team.
MAKING THE STEAL: Indiana has averaged 8.7 steals per game over the last eight games which includes a season-high 16 against SMSU. The Hoosiers have only 5 in each of the last two games which is the first time in seven games they have had less than 7. The 16 steals vs. SMSU ties for the fifth-highest mark in school history. IU has 95 (9.5 spg) steals in the victories but just 27 (5.4 spg) in the losses.
DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE: The Hoosiers have held four opponents under 40% (accomplished 13 times last year in 33 games). After allowing an opponent's season-high 89 to Iowa, IU allowed Illinois 74 and Michigan 62 for an improvement in each of the last two games. The opponents are shooting 43.1% coming into this afternoon's game. In the victories, Indiana has held the opponents to 41.6% from the field and forced them into 176 turnovers which includes an opponents season-high 25 by USF. By contrast in the losses, the opponents are shooting 45.7% and have turned the ball over 72 times.
GET AHEAD, STAY AHEAD: This year the Hoosiers are 6-1 while leading at halftime, 4-3 when trailing and 0-1 when tied. The Hoosiers are usually good at holding onto a lead as they are 24-2 in the last 26 games in which they led at the half over the last two seasons.
MARGIN MATERIAL: Each of Indiana's wins this season have been by at least 7 points. The average margin of victory is 14.5 ppg while the loss margin stands at 8.2. Only five of the Hoosiers' games this season has been decided by less than 10 points P at Temple (-6), vs. Kentucky (-3), vs. South Alabama (+8), vs. Western Michigan (+7) and at Illinois (-2).
SCORING SOME POINTS: The Hoosiers enter today's game averaging 75.1 points per game. Indiana averages 78.8 ppg in the wins but just 67.6 ppg in the losses. Indiana's season-high was 103 vs. Northeast Louisiana in the final game in Hawaii. The 103 points was the first time the Hoosiers had eclipsed the century mark since Dec. 29, 1995 when they also scored 103 points against Appalachian State (span of 56 games). The Hoosiers scored over 90 points only twice last year in 33 games but have already matched this number through 12 games.
MISCELLANEOUS NOTES: Indiana has led the Big Ten in scoring over the last seven years with a average of 79.9 points per game.IAs strange as it might sound, no Indiana player has ever recorded a triple-doubleIThe Hoosiers have had 27 consecutive winning seasons. Every Coach Knight team at IU has had a winning season. During Knight's tenure in Bloomington, Indiana is the only school in the Big Ten to register an overall winning record each year. Along those same lines with 9 conference victories last year, the Hoosiers have 24 (out of 26) non-losing conference seasons during Knight's tenureI Indiana is one of the top schools in the country during the 1990's. Entering the season, IU ranks 12th among all teams during this span with a 72.4 winning percentageIAll-time in Assembly Hall the Hoosiers are an impressive 324-43 (.882) including a 194-36 (.843) record in Big Ten games. Since the beginning of the 1990-91 season the Hoosiers are 91-10 (.901) in Assembly Hall. Indiana is 62-23 (.729) against ranked teams in Assembly HallIIndiana has won all six of its games this season where it has scored 80 or more points. Over the last three years, Indiana is 22-5 when scoring at least 80 points.
