No. 19 Illinois sweeps Hoosiers 3-0CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The No. 24 ranked Indiana volleyball team dropped its second consecutive match Saturday evening, losing to No. 19 Illinois 15-8, 15-13, 15-8 in Huff Hall.
With the loss, the Hoosiers drop to 10-5 overall, 3-3 in Big Ten play while the Fighting Illini improve to 12-4 overall, 5-1 in the Big Ten.
Indiana struggled offensively with just a .112 attack percentage against the Illini. The Hoosiers were also out blocked 15 to six at the net. Sophomore Amanda Welter led the Hoosiers with 13 kills and two blocks. Teammate Jen Magelssen added nine kills and 12 digs.
Betsy Spicer and Mary Coleman led the Fighting Illini with 13 and 10 kills apiece, respectively.
"It was a tough road weekend
for us," said Katie Weismiller.
"We struggled offensively and
didn't compete. We must now regroup
and be ready to play Northwestern on
Wednesday."
