Hoosiers Finish Fighting Illini Invitational
Champaign, Ill.--The Hoosiers completed another strong day at the Fighting Illini Invitational, as they finished the weekend tournament. The Hoosiers playing over in Champaign, Illinois, competed in final round matches today in both singles and doubles. The Hoosiers had all seven seeds playing for first-place and won four of those matches.
The first-place finishers were junior Gabriel Montilla, sophomore Paul Jacobson, sophomore Milan Rakvica, and junior Ricardo Jordan. Montilla, the first-seed, defeated Ball State's Juan Fernandez 6-2,6-0. Jacobson, the four-seed, kept his perfect record this season intact, by defeating Royce Ramey of Illinois 6-4,7-5. At the fifth-seed, Rakvica also kept his perfecting record alive as he defeated Louisville's Kane Easter 6-2,6-1. Jordan, the sixth-seed, knocked off Ball State's Nick Vizzone 6-1,6-4. The other three Hoosiers singles players: sophomores Ian Arons, Brendan Storey, and Joey Balsiger, all finished in second place. Arons, the second-seed, lost to Ball State's Ryan Baxter 6-3,6-3. Storey, playing at the fifth position, lost to Illinois' Arnaud Lantin 6-1,6-0. The seventh-seed, Balsiger lost in three sets to Nathan Zeder of Illinois, 3-6,6-0,6-0.
After completing a successful weekend in Illinois, the Hoosiers are now
off until November 6. On that weekend the Hoosiers will be competing in
both the Rolex Championships and the Indiana Davis Cup Invitational. The
Indiana Davis Cup Invitational takes place in Bloomington, Indiana and the
Rolex Championship takes place in East Lansing, Michigan. For any questions
