INDIANA SWEEPS MICHIGANANN ARBOR, Mich. - Indiana's volleyball team picked up its first Big Ten road victory of the season Friday evening, defeating Michigan in a sweep 15-8, 15-3, 15-7 in Cliff Keen Arena.
With the victory, the Hoosiers improve their season record to 12-8 overall, 5-6 in Big Ten play, while the Wolverines fall to 11-10 overall, 3-8 in the Big Ten.
The Hoosiers, who were led by a strong offensive attack, posted only one error through the first two games and finished the match with 52 kills, just seven errors off of 108 attempts for an impressive .417 attack percentage. Indiana also served tough from the service line this evening with nine service aces.
Ryann Connors and Amanda Welter led IU with 11 kills apiece, including a n errorless match from Connors who's 11 kills came with no errors and at .611 attack percentage.
"It was a great team effort by Indiana this evening," said Coach Katie Weismiller. "We played very well. We also served Michigan tough tonight. It is really a plus for us to get this road win under us because we will face a tough challenge at No. 18 Michigan State tomorrow night."
The Hoosiers will be back in action, playing at No. 18 Michigan State,
Saturday, Oct. 31 at 7 p.m., in East Lansing, Mich.
