HOOSIERS FALL TO SPARTANS IN FOUR
EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Indiana volleyball team lost to 18th-ranked Michigan State Saturday night in four games, 15-7, 5-15, 15-7, 15-12. The loss puts Indiana at 12-9 overall and 5-7 in Big Ten play.
After losing the first game, the Hoosiers came back strong to win game two 15-5. Indiana had only one error in the game as they hit .696. In the fourth and final game the Hoosiers spotted the Spartans an 8-2 before coming back to make it 10-12. However, Michigan State held on for the 15-12 victory.
Junior Ryann Connors led the Indiana attack with 22 kills and seven digs. Setter Kristina Sanderson turned in her best performance of the season with a season-high 68 assists.
Cydryce Carter had 12 kills and eight digs before an ankle injury in game three sidelined her for the rest of the match. Senior Jen Magelssen continued her steady play with 13 kills and 13 digs.
"We were up in game three until Cydryce turned her ankle," commented coach Katie Weismiller. "From an attacking standpoint we did a great job. We're looking forward to getting back home and playing Illinois on Friday in front of a home crowd."
Jenna Wrobel and Erin Hartley lead the Spartans with 23 and 20 kills, respectively. As a team, Michigan State had 90 kills compared to Indiana's 81.
The Hoosiers will Illinois on Friday and Purdue on Saturday. Both matches
will
be played at University Gym at 7 pm.
