The Indiana men's soccer team defeated Butler 3-0 tonight in front of a record crowd of 5,170 at Kuntz Stadium in Indianapolis. Aleksey Korol scored two goals and Ryan Mack added one as the Hoosiers rattled off 15 shots on goal.
IU's defense was a key in the victory. Led by Nick Garcia, the Hoosiers held the Bulldogs to only six shots, three in each half. Goalie T.J. Hannig was also outstanding, stopping the only two shots he faced.
But Coach Jerry Yeagley thought his offense was the main focus tonight.
"We had some beautiful combinations tonight for goals," he said. "I couldn't be any more happy with the results and the performance."
Yeagley added that he was impressed with the way his offense was clicking, especially Korol.
"Aleksey had a magic game," Yeagley said. "Tonight it was our night. Our midfield combination play and possession, they just couldn't match that. Our defense was also pretty strong."
The Hoosiers next travel to Black Beauty Field to take on the University of Evansville Purple Aces on Sunday, October 11 at 2:30 p.m.
