INDIANA ROLL OVER EAST TENN. STATEThe Indiana women's basketball team got back on the winning sidewith a 103-61 win over East Tennessee State in the consolation game of the Full-O-Pep Classic.
Indiana jumped out to an early 14-2 lead and never looked back. The Hoosiers had six players in double figures and were led by Jill Chapman and Kay Morgan with 19 points each. Others in double figures were Kristi Green with 15, Dani Thrush with 12, LaKale Malone with 11 and Staci Mueller added 10.
Indiana shot 56 percent from field in the game compared to 39 percent for the Lady Bucs. The Hoosiers dropped in a school record 12 three-pointers and were 12 of 23 (52%) from behing the arc.
Head coach Jim Izard was encouraged by his team's play after last night's loss to Akron, "I am pleased to see the team comback after our disappointing loss last night. They played really hard and shot the ball well."
After defeating Indiana in the first round, the Akron Zips went on to win the Full-O-Pep Classic with a 79-70 win over St. Louis.
Cheryl Bowles of Akron was named MVP of tournament and had 23 points and 20 rebounds in the championship game. Other members of the All-Tournament Team were Abby Hoy of Akron, Kelly George and Mandy Lueking from St. Louis, and Jill Chapman and Kay Morgan of Indiana.
